November "Blues"

I have been pretty much sickish for the last two weeks (so basically all of November) - that is so sucky because I love November and I love fall, and every time I think I am kicking this scratchy throat and annoying little cough to the curb, it comes back.  So annoying....

I am thankful though that isn't contagious because so far no else has gotten - yes!

We finally scheduled some family pictures for later this month (we missed last year, due to our trip home) so I am crossing fingers that I will be 100% before then.

We have other big news in the Cook house - Hayleigh lost her first tooth a couple of weeks ago.  I can't believe my baby girl is growing - she was absolutely thrilled.

As I am writing this, Nate actually just pulled her second tooth - what?!

I have been working on a bunch of recipes the last two weeks, in between the "sick flare-ups" some days I feel great and that I can accomplish a few things (maybe ones) and other days I can't muster the energy to do the basics.

It did work out that the recipes I tested was on the good days so that we would be stocked up for the not so good days.

Some of my eats here lately.

This chicken chili has been a live saver.

Classic pumpkin pie.  One of our favorites, and the best breakfast with a cup of coffee.

Pumpkin pie parfaits.  This is best and easiest little treats to have in the refrigerator when you are in a pinch, or if you are having a major craving.

One of those good days we had some friends over for dinner (we should do this more often) it was so much fun.  I made this delicious chili (that I will share the recipe at some point) but it was fantastic.

We finally did one of our favorite fall things - a fire, apple cider, and s'mores.  I mean what is not to love.  The kids loved playing outside in the dirt next to the fire until late - and the adults just chit-chatted, it was simply fabulous.

attempt at homemade marshmallows.

I would also like to take a moment and talk about my cat.  I seriously can't imagine our life with out her.  She is so good for my heart and soul.  She has pretty much been my little side-kick - snuggling with me, napping with me, hanging in the kitchen with me.  I am so happy she is ours.

Also the kids found this bug outside, and I am wondering what is it?

I think for now I am just going to work on nourishing my body and hopefully healing this ridiculousness before Thanksgiving.

When people say holidays are stressful, I don't really agree - I feel like people are more stressful then the holiday in it's self.  I love the holidays and spending time with my family - making memories, whatever way that might look.

Hopeful that I will feel better, so I can soak up these special times with my kids.

  Happy Wednesday!
