Happy November

I can't believe that is already November, this year just keep flying by - but part of me is ok with it because it means I am so much closer to seeing my parents and my brother and his family, seriously can't wait.

We have settling into being a two car family just nicely, but I have to admit, that I still don't really do much besides being home - I just love being home.  I promised myself that just because we have another car I won't succumb to the world of always being "busy" and exhausted - so far so good.

On Saturday the kids and I had a little library date, now that Ian is reading pretty much fluently all he wants is books, books, and more books.  I love it so much.  My favorite is when he reads to me while I cook dinner some nights.

He is so comfortable finding his books, and then finding a spot to devour them.

We had a little weekend treat of frozen yogurt, and as always I didn't disappoint.  I love little dates, to connect and bond after a busy week of starting school again, and other things that needs to be done in and around the house.

We had a blast, and it was even better because we were the only customers in the store.

We also went to feed the ducks at the duck pond behind our house.  These ducks are savages and you just park your car and they come ready to devour.  The kids has to stand on the table, otherwise the attack is on.  I mean one goose ran off with my car keys.  It was a little bit traumatizing, but we had a good laugh.

I do love that my kids are still content with doing the simple things in life, and it doesn't take much to make their days even brighter.

I have been sick for most of this week, that is why it took me a while to get another post up.  We had a fun weekend, and then boom - Monday rolls around and I have a cold.

I have been doing my best to rest (we do mostly school in the mornings) and then to just rest up in the afternoon and evening.

Green smoothies, and bone broth have been fabulous in giving me lots of nutrients to fight this stupid bug.

I absolutely hate being sick - there is nothing worse then mustering up the strength to feed the little people in the house when all you want to do is lay down because the pounding pressure in your face is literately making it impossible to focus.

Luckily I have these beauties to cheer me up a little bit.

I have been loving the fall weather we have been enjoying this year, it generally doesn't happen - and it calls for all the soups, and pies we can ask for.  It is the best time to be in the kitchen cooking, and enjoying family.

Here are some of my favorites.

White chicken chili

Chicken with greens.

Chicken and white bean stew.

Deep dish apple pie.

I am hoping to kick this cold in the butt sooner then later, so we can return to a very minimalist fall bucket listI generally don't like making these lists, because then something happens, like I get sick, and then I beat myself up when I can't check every single one of the list.  The struggle is real over here.

I went to Target the other day, and well all the Christmas stuff was being unpacked and it makes me just want to skip over the rest of fall and Thanksgiving, because well this girl loves her some Christmas.

Here is to a better end of the week then beginning.

Happy Wednesday!
