Hayleigh is FIVE

Five years ago today....

Five years ago on this glorious day that my sweet girl came into the world, by world became even more beautiful.

The moment we locked eyes in that hospital room, I knew in an instant that this is going to be one wild ride - filled with adventure, some heart ache, and lots of laughter.

We had her birthday party this weekend, so we celebrated her actual birthday just the four of us.

Hayleigh have added so much to our family in these five short years, in so many ways that it so hard to even attempt to put it into words.

She has stretches my soul daily, to semi-slow down, to find the beauty in all of the unexpected places, and to bloom in the desert.  I am so grateful that I get to journey with her,

She takes my breath away - and sometimes I still can't believe that she was created within in me - it is seriously the most insane thing ever.

We had a slow, and super laid back day celebrating our girl (all while recovering from an insane birthday party weekend.)

Opening gifts...
I decided to keep all our gifts as well as the gifts from our friends and family in South Africa for her actual birthday, instead of her birthday party, and I am so glad I did that.

We were awaken by a shrill "it's my birthday, today is my birthday..." and of course we had to go with it,

First up tea...

One of my favorite things is to watch  my kids open gifts (Christmas, birthdays, really any gift) - this birthday didn't disappoint.

I love how excited to she was.

My favourite things that we got her 1.) this sweet dainty little tea set we got her (she actually got two this birthday - one we painted ourselves and one that reminds of mine when I was little.) And 2.) this bunny - meet Herb...

(#theadventuresofherb)
Herb will be going on a little of little adventures (#theadventuresofherb) and maybe we will be able to make a little fun book for the kids to read.

Breakfast....
A stack of rolled up crepes, what is not to love - she picked it herself.

While I was cooking away she came into the kitchen and was just drawing away, I love it when she does that.

  Lots of playing...
We pretty much played all day....

Ian was excited for all her lego - lol!

Cake time....
Well that didn't happened, we were all caked out from the party and no one wanted to make another cake - so we opted for some frozen yogurt instead.  My first time here - it was pretty neat.

Meet Milo.
We have another tortoise, we are officially that family.

A simple dinner....
So out everything I can cook, want to know what Hayleigh wanted for her birthday dinner, sit down to prepare yourself.  She wanted eggs.... seriously, at first I was annoyed but then my friend fired back and said at least it's easy - hahahha!

It was such a nice little day, celebrating my sweet girl.

How I ever got so lucky to be your mom, I'll never know. It was a Divine set up - a beautifully orchestrated collision, of something so breathtaking I can hardly describe it. Just know, if there were millions of babies to chose from, and I had my pick, I'd chose you - over and over.

Happy FIFTH birthday Hayleigh Elizabeth. You are kind, you are strong, you are beautiful, and you have a wild adventurous spirit! Always stay true to yourself! I love you something fierce.
It is such a honor and privilege to be called your mama!
