Good Food And Homeschool Fun

I haven't has my camera super handy the last week or so.  We have been so busy digging up the back yard in preparation for our vegetable garden, and well it is not yet a pretty sight.

We have been loving our home-school curriculum and so far Ian is thriving - I am so impressed and it is so much fun.  Our mornings are usually consumed with school, and library books, and reading books, and handwriting practice, and math equations.  It has been so much.

Science day is our favourite day of the week.  Right now they are learning all about plants, flowers, leaves, trees, roots etc.  It is falling perfectly in line with the garden prepping.

We did the whole bean experiment - you know the one everyone does.  It has been so exciting to check on them every day, and here soon we will plant one in a pot - just to see what happens.

We also pressed so flowers and leaves - hopefully they will dry out soon, so we can use them to make a cards and pictures.

We had fabulous morning on Saturday morning - Nate unfortunately had to go back to work, but the kids and I turned on the music, made some tea, and spent the morning making our favourite pancakes.  It was so relaxing, and cozy.

Also I just had to take a picture of these beauties.  Farm fresh eggs is one of my favorite foods.  Thanks Sherri!

And then we shameless spend way to much time in the kitchen, making food, stocking the freezer, and trying out new things.

We seriously have a problem - nutrition packed food just makes me so happy.

Pinot Noir pan seared salmon.

Fresh strawberries with whipped cream of course.

Chicken and green soup with lots of fresh ginger and turmeric.  My favourite soup.

  Mini sweet potato muffins.

We have been settling in more and more each day, and it has been so good.

After the two years that we have had, it is about time that things start to go a little smoother.

It has been such a huge relieve to be away from all the drama, overly religiousness, and overly political people.  I am pretty sure we are label the weird people on the block, because well - I am a food hippie trapped in the wrong era, and my kids play outside the majority of the time, but who cares.

This is just us,

We have been meeting a few more people here and there, and it's a little frightening but we are hoping for the best.

I'll leave you with this....

Just so you can let me know how cute she is...

Truth be told, she is cute... BUT
she is the master at stretching my soul to this hard place.  Parenting her is no cake walk, let me just tell you - but as my mom told me a while back - can you imagine how boring life would be without her.  I am pretty sure that God gave me Hayleigh so I would never ever be able to say that I have it all together when it comes to his motherhood gig.

On this specific day, she had pushed me a little over the edge - tears were involved and well it wasn't her.

But that night when I put her to bed, and I watched her slowly drift off while inhaling her sweet scent, my heart was so overwhelmed with gratitude and love for her.

At times I might gripe about her five going on fifteen attitude, but I will never ever stop loving her very specific and unique individuality.

****

At this moment, life is pretty good, and I am so thankful for a refreshing break in life, to just enjoy all the small things.

Happy Tuesday!
