Enjoying The Some Little Things

February flew by so fast, I can hardly believe it.

We have just being have a quiet and somewhat laid back month - making plans for the rest of year and just spending time together.

So enjoying a few small things in life lately.

I became an auntie.
I am so happy to announce that I am finally an aunt.  My beautiful niece made her entrance into the world - and I could not be more in love.  I am so excited to be her favourite aunt (well ok I am her only aunt) and the kids are over the moon.  It just sucks that we will have to wait a while before we get to see her in person.  I am so thankful that my brother and his wife have been sending us tons of pictures, and videos, and updates so we don't feel left out.  Welcome baby Lara - I love you so much already!

Impromptu date night.
I am going to be real here for a minute - sometimes our kids drive us nuts.  I feel like it would be unfair to not say this because most people assume that everything is always rainbows and unicorns at our house (due to pictures) and well it is just not true.

Point in case - one fateful Monday that Nate was home the kids were having a day and could no longer handle it - so thank God for grandparents - we were able to last minute drop the kids off with Nate's parents and enjoy a quick little dinner out together.

As the kids are getting older, and they are a little less dependent on just us, it has been nice to sneak away every so often and just spend time with Nate.

One of our favourite spots in this tiny town - it this little diner - that has the best burgers and fried pickles - my fave!

Flowers
I am a sucker for flowers - I know know - they die etc.  I don't care the sight of fresh flowers on the kitchen island makes me so so happy!

  A slow and cozy breakfast.
I love making breakfast while sipping on tea and or coffee - especially when baking something delicious.  Weekends or the days that Nate wake up at home is  my favorite days to do this.  I made the most delicious buttermilk coffee cake - a huge hit.

This morning wasn't as slow as I would have  liked because we went to church and the cake had to bake a little longer - but it was still so so good!

   Little family lunch dates.
We love spending time together, and good food - so little family lunch dates are the best.  I prefer to have dinner at home - but day time is free game!

  Seeds & Garden Planning
I am so excited to be planning our vegetable garden this year - I have seriously missed it.  All our heirloom seeds came this week - and I am so excited to get started!

   Weekly library outings.
One of my favourite things - I love going in the morning when there is barely any people.  The kids have been enjoying books so much - and it makes the little reader inside of me so so happy!

 Barbie collection selling.
First off, if any of you know some serious Barbie collectors - help this girl out.

We are trying to sell this insane Barbie collection (about 300 dolls) - it has been the funnest thing for me to go through all of them - the first two boxes I have gone through had my very first Barbie that I ever owned (I still have her - she just isn't as pretty anymore - anyone else play hairdresser on Barbie) anyways and all the other ones I oogled over every time we went to the store.  It has been so fun!

My afternoons have looked kind of like this....

  it has been fabulous!

We are getting ready for the weekend here - Nate is actually off all weekend so we will be going on a little date day (to the hardware store) to get all the supplies for our raised beds, and then hopefully we will start building as well.

Life is finally settling in (almost perfectly) and I am so grateful!

Happy weekend.
