Rainy West Texas Weekend

I love the Facebook time hop feature because it reminds me of past events in my life.

This morning as I was sipping on some black tea, I scrolled through that feature and it occurred to me I have been out of South Africa for ten years today!  That is so  insane!  I can't believe that I barely graduated from high school when I moved have way across the world in search adventure - and I found so  much more.  Hello Nate, and the rest is history.  It is so insane how fast time flies.

*********

It has been a rainy and cold weekend here in West Texas - and I loved it so much.  After Germany I never thought I would miss the soft drizzly rainy days - but I actually do.

This weekend was perfect with the weather - we are all snug and cozy inside, and Nate was home.  So that made it even better.

One of our most favourite things to do when the weather is keeping you inside, is building puzzles and sipping on hot chocolate.

So we did just that.

It was just what we all needed - some good quality family time away from the typical let's snuggle and watch a movie.

I have been struggling to adjust to the kids growing up - and all the changes that comes with it.  I felt like I was so good at the baby and toddler stage that the pre-school age have been so intimidating.

But as a have slowly been opening  my heart and mind to the change, it have actually been kind of fun,

They have the best stories, and they are actually kind of funny.

It was so fun and relaxing to just sip on delicious and warm hot chocolate and hanging out.

And the best part? We finished the puzzles and then a little geography lesson was in order.  I love it when things finally clicks for them.

We also love to make homemade pizza, the kids have been asking to do it for a while now.  We use to do it once a week or so, but haven't really since returning from our trip, so we are slowly getting back into the swing of things.

I generally make big batches of this pizza sauce, and then I freeze it so that when we want to make pizza it isn't as time consuming to make everything from scratch.

It was my first time experiment with a gluten-free crust - but I prefer the old fashioned one.

It is such a pretty and colorful dinner idea, it just makes me so happy.

The kids favourite part is, the get to create their very own pizza with whatever they want it.  We have a small selection because it is the things we truly love on our pizza.

It is Nate and my favourite part as well.  I just love the look and the feel of creating good food at home.  It just makes my heart happy.

I just love my people so much!

I mean seriously how cute are they? I am the luckiest.

Also Hayleigh took this picture of Nate and I - not bad for a four year old.

  And our finished dinner....

Beautiful and colorful pizza.

It was the perfect end to such a nice weekend.

The only one not to thrilled about the rain and cold weather - Millie cat.  She hates it so much - ha!

It is a new week with new possibilities.

Happy Monday!
