and also, because his last name was "Cook" and I just thought that was a terrible and boring as last names could possibly come :)
But here we are all these years later....
with two beautiful children to sweeten the deal.

I love Nate more then anyone will ever know, and more then any words could ever describe it - marriage is HARD work but it sets the groundwork for deepest and most loyal friendship I have ever known or experienced. It is where we see each other in our absolute bests and also where we see each other in our less then stellar moments. But there is the level of incredible love and commitment that makes it feel like the safest place on the entire planet, and knowing someone will always have your back, because you will always have theirs, is one of the most breathtaking feelings in the entire world.
We have had some of the best adventures - we have traveled the world together (I have lost count of where we have been) - seen and experienced so much beauty - created so many memories....
But my all time favorite adventure - anniversary one - me and this guy - two weeks - italy - backpacking (well more like rolling suitcase - bahahaha - we learned from this mistake) - way to much Italian wine in Rome, and old school low quality selfies. Yes, please!

Growing our family has not stopped of from traveling one bit - our adventures just change, and the wine consumption decreased to accommodate ice cream - but I am so ok with that!
I don't doubt that a few curve balls will be thrown our way in the years to come (hell, we are being thrown with one right now) and I'll never claim to be any expert on any one this, because heaven knows we still have so very much to learn when it comes to married life. But there is no one else I would rather spend this adventure with.

As we celebrate these last eight years of being married today, I just want to publicly express my sappy crazy feelings for the man in my life, because I still think he is super awesome, and I absolutely love being married to him, and I also kind of sort of love that my last name is "Cook" now, which my eighteen year old self would be shocked at.
Happy eight years of marriage, Nate, I love you something fierce.
We will celebrate next weekend when there are no emergency room clinicals!
