Mommy Ian Date

I love how life is started to really be normal for us, and how every single day as we hang the last things in the walls the house it is starting to feel more like our home.

A couple of weeks ago Nate and I finally consolidated the last boxes (mostly books - we still need to build the bookshelf) and getting rid of everything that doesn't have a spot in this house.  It is so liberating to purge.

With that we decided to yardsale some of the stuff, and then take the kids shopping to decorate their rooms.  I took Hayleigh a couple of weeks ago, this week was Ian's turn.

Ian and I haven't had a little date in so long, we use to do is so much in Germany, and I am hoping once we find our footing in paramedic school, we would have more opportunities to do it.  I love spending one on one time with him.  He is so interesting.

We had so much fun, hanging out in the truck listening to kid audio books - yes Ian and I are the little nerds in our family - and I am so ok with that.

A little selfie, thanks to the iphone and Ian.

I thought picking stuff out for a boy, would be so much easier, but then again we were in the store for five minutes when he nonchalantly says, "ok mom, can we just go look at Legos instead," so that is what I had to work with.

I finally convinced him to pick out a few things that he likes, and that we would make a special trip to Target after we get lunch to satisfy his Lego dreaming need.

We went with a little adventure theme.  You know arrows, and bears, and wild animals, and camping.

We had lunch together.  It is usually my favourite part - they get to pick where we eat, and we normally do something special like milkshake our ice-cream.  I was hoping for pizza - but like his sister Chick-fil-a won. I don't blame them, it's delicious.

I love his tender heart.  He has a hard of gold, and I love how kind and considerate he is.  I am lucky momma to have a sweet little guy like him.

Our lunch was abruptly interrupted by the high school lunch hour, and some boys sitting to next to us throwing nasty words around - it made us a little uncomfortable so we ditched the restaurant and took our shakes to the car.

As promised we went to Target - really to get something for Hayleigh.  He picked a Barbie for her - so we are no a Barbie family owing family - and I am so excited.

And then of course we spend about an hour in the Lego aisle together...

this is his heaven.

I can't wait for his room to come together completely.  I still have to paint a couple of old frames, and move some stuff around - it is going to be pretty awesome.

Here is a little preview.

Will be sharing more soon.

Happy Thursday!
