Family Night Fun

We have been trying to be more intentional and pick a Friday/Saturday depending on which day Nate is off to have a family night of good food (this week we decided on pizza) and a movie - and the kids love it because they get to eat in front of the tv.

It has been hard to not get distracted by life, and unfinished projects, but now that Nate is in paramedic school, it is even more important since he is super busy with studying and it seems like always gone - a huge adjustment for the kids and I.

This weekend his mom graciously and kindly agreed to entertain and spend time with the kids on Saturday morning so Nate could finish up his studying, and I could work on an important project, and that why family Nate will happen, because we would be done with all the not so fun to be an adult part of life.

Nate and I were able to sneak away for a super fast little lunch date, at our favourite Mexican joint in town.  This town might not have a ton to offer, but they know how to make good Mexican food.

Our little loves made it home, and it was all about them for the rest of the afternoon.  Of course Legos would be part of the mix - I mean we wouldn't have it any other way.  Some serious building going on right here.

I was able to make the pizza dough just before they came home, that way it would have enough time to rise, and everyone could help to make part of the pizza.

I love our little individual pizza stones, they are so handy and make the process so much more fun.  You can get them here.

The boys were in charge of the dough - rolling it out and shaping the crust.

They did a fantastic job.

And the girls were in charge of all the toppings.  We pulled the sauce from our freezer stash, grated the cheese and got all the toppings together.  The kids just wanted ham, while Nate and I used up some leftover veggies we had from dinner the night before - and yes we did put broccoli on our pizza - and it was delicious.

Hayleigh loved being able to help with this task.

Oh and we were also in charge of dessert - we picked frozen hot chocolate and used this recipe.

More stirring was involved.

Someone was super excited to have pizza for dinner - he has been asking for a while now.

and someone else was just being her cute self.

Their most favourite part - getting to put their very own pizza's together.

She always wants to be goofy, and I am just not good at it!

The end results.  Delicious homemade pizza - and everyone loved it because everyone helped.

Followed by this.....

It was a huge hit.

Even Millie hung out with us, laying outside in the sun on the back patio - it was beautiful day so we had the doors wide open.  She is such a great pet.

Just like that January is over.  I can hardly believe it - time goes by way t fast.

Happy February!
