Our one year anniversary as homeowners.
I can hardly believe it.
We have done so much in the last year, it is hard to comprehend or explain it - let me just say that renovating yourself is not for the faint-hearted.
I greatly underestimated the time and amount of work it adds up to - the things you don't take into consideration.
Well I am happy to say that after a year we are 97% done - it might seem crazy to some because a year is a long time - but we let me just say that we completely gutted the house to the concrete floor, sheet rock walls, scrape the popcorn texture of the ceilings, build walls, took down walls, added electrical outlets, add half a bathroom and so much more.
I thought it fitting to share the living room before and afters as a one year gift.
It is besides for the kitchen our favourite room to be in. We spend lots of time here - reading, building puzzles, playing with Legos, coloring stretched out on the floor, and of course watching way to much TV (but who cares?) - we love it.
I am really pleased with how it turned out. It looks so much bigger and lighter then before. A fresh coat of paint can do wonders all by itself. It is one of the rooms that didn't have a huge change in the construction besides for cutting a a door way in the one wall.
The pictures were a little hard to recreate - when I first took pictures of the house we had no idea or really a plan of what we wanted or what we were going to do for that matter. We just went with whatever seemed good in the moment.
So without further a due - here you go.

I am really in love with how it turned out.
Over the next couple of weeks, I will try to go through each room and take new pictures, to share. I know my brother and rest of my family have been eager to see it, my mom and dad were lucky to see it first hand.

So I have been missing Germany like crazy - well just the food. Our favourite Indian restaurant was there, and have yet to find a good one here.
Anyways so I decided to try my best to recreate the naan (Indian bread) and I did it. It made bubbles and all, and was filled with bready goodness. So one year celebration with Indian food, that was super close to the real deal - well I will definitely take that as success.

I am so excited for all the new memories we have and are busy creating in our little house. It is just perfect for our little family - and the perfect size for this mama who has to clean it.
Even Millie loves it here. She is the laziest, yet sweetest cat in the world.
So far we have adjusted to Nate's new schedule (work & school) pretty smoothly and I do hope it will continue to go smoothly.
Happy Saturday!
PS. Stayed tuned for the rest of the pictures. Hayleigh's room will be up next week.
