Hello 2016

We spend the first weekend of the year planning for this year, incorporating subtle little changes to make our daily life a little easier and more manageable.

I am not so much of a resolution setter - because honestly I get to the point of not caring real fast - especially if it has to do with exercise - just saying.

Instead we take the approached of what worked and what didn't work the previous year and we slowly build on that - one small change at a time - to prevent feeling overwhelmed.

As we are approaching legitimate school age come summer (Ian miss the cut off last year) - and the fact that we want to homeschool, I realized that some parts of our days have to be simplified.  Breakfast is one of those areas and that is hard for me because I love baking and making fruit platters, and setting the table all pretty - but in reality that is no longer going to work on our designated school mornings.  We need something quick easy, but nutritional and filling.

We aren't exactly the cereal kid of family - but on the rare occasions that our hotels offered it while traveling the kids did enjoy it.  So to change it up - I decided to make my granola recipe but chop the nuts and seed up a little finer to create a homemade granola cereal version - that is at least what we call it to make it more fun and enticing.

The kids loved helping, and they couldn't wait to eat it the next morning.   We used this recipe.

We officially said goof-bye to Christmas - and the kids where said - I have mix emotions - a part of me is ready to get out of our lousy holiday routine of mostly doing nothing productive, and the other part of me is missing the twinkly lights and all the coziness it held.  The kids are frankly just sad!

We are coming to terms with no more Christmas and regular life and schedule taking over. Returning to adulthood.   Like maybe finally finish up the baseboards in the house - a year of being home owners is quickly approaching and we are still not done with initial renovations.

I am hoping to get back into blogging and taking pictures to share little snippets of our life as we navigate through our days - some not so beautiful as others.  But we are all human and a working in progress.

Our 2016 is off to a great start and I am excited and motivated for some much need changes.

Happy Monday!
