Sometimes Nate and I get carried away with all the family stuff that we forget the kids also thrive when we spend one on one time with each of them, so we divide and conquer.
I use to take the Ian on little dates all the the time when Hayleigh was a baby, and then she got past the baby face she was also ushered into date day.
Our favorite things to do was going to the bakery (oh I miss Germany) and spending hours in the crummy little books store (but hey it's better then nothing) finding books to add to our already large collection.
Since our move back to Texas - life have been rough, and so we slowly started to slip away from what once was special and important - we actually just slipped into survival mode - hanging on for dear life.
Now that we have been a little more establish and we have found a way (I am not sure if it is our way yet) but it is a start. I find myself yearning for all those little things again - the one and one time has become so special - that is the moments when they are more prone to share they hearts - oh and what beautiful hearts they have.
We have been finishing up the last little projects in the house (it still falls under the renovation phase - we have all the supplies we just need to do it) - so we decided to finish up the kids rooms, pictures on the walls and all.
I have been selling stuff on the garage sale page like crazy - everything we don't have room for after the move, and so with that money we are changing up the kids room.
I told each of them I would take them to the store to pick out some stuff for their rooms - you know a little date.
Hayleigh was first!
We had a blast.

It was more difficult to pick things out for her room - we love girly but not overpowering girl and that was challenging.
She loved looking at everything - asking me what I was thinking, and even matching colors, that's my girl!
Her final picks, to add to things that we already had.
Of course we had some time for a little bit of fun! I had to convince her that we didn't want nor needed this mirror.
We had lunch together - this is my favourite part, this where I get them to talk and giggle and laugh. I absolutely love when my kids open up and share their hearts with me - and they make me laugh, and rethink lots of things, It is just such a blessed time. As mad as this little people make me, I am thankful for the new perspective they bring to my life.

Another one thanks the iphone, and the easy selfie option! |
We spent the rest of the afternoon in Target - to busy giggling and laughing to capture pictures.
But I do have one last little sweet story - after we got everything we needed for her room, we had some cash left. Well instead of buying something for herself, she suggested (all by herself) that we should get something for Ian - and so we did!! He was super happy and surprised that she would do that for him. I have to admit it did tug on my heartstrings a little, since this little girl is my difficult child!!

Here is a little sneak peak of what we have done for her room so far. I am hoping to have a before and after post on her room sometime closer to the end of the month.

These are mostly things we already had minus the big frame. I changed up the little frames with some chalk paint, sandpaper, and wax. |

I new coat of paint on these frames, and add some black and white flash cards we no longer use and you have yourself something cute. |
I love this part of moving - starting little projects that ends up being so fulfilling.
Sharing more soon.
Happy Saturday!
