Picture Day

Every year since having kids we do this, we pick a day in November.  We plan it ahead, what we will wear to semi-match (I never thought I would do that) - we set the date, we stock up on our bribe stash (usually candy) and we head out to take family pictures.  You can see the last two years here and here.

I am usually excited but then a part of me dread it - because I never know how the kids are going to respond, and what if I run out of candy to bribe them?

This year was different, I am so happy to report that we didn't have to bribe them once.  Rhea did an amazing job engaging with the kids, no tears, no fights, and just smiles.

I can't wait to see all the pictures, and to share them.

In good family tradition we headed out for ice cream after the session - and of course it delivered.  I mean who doesn't like ice-cream (besides my friend Monica.)

Super wind blown hair!

It turned into kind of a weird day where we didn't know what to do with ourselves, and everyone was getting a little frustrated with each other.  That happens in our house too.

Sometimes some fresh air and sunshine makes everything better.  Playground time, on a chilly and windy fall day, but so beautiful.

Wahoo we have a tiny ponytail.

It ended into all afternoon at the park, with no dinner ready so of course Nate came to the rescue - pizza and past - I mean how can I say no!

We still seem to struggle daily with missing Germany - we love Nate's job here better but miss the German feel.  I am not sure if we are ever going to get over it (dramatic much) - it is just so different here, and wrapping my head around it is hard.

We are here for some reason, what, I have no idea.  It seems to get a little better every day as we settle into the house more, and make it homey and cozy with what is familiar to us.  Picture are hung, but I still have a longing for the less complicated.

Fall is my one of my favourite times of the year, and I miss the rich fall colors in Germany.  That was just insane.

On our drive home yesterday we found a little row of colored trees  - not the same - but I will take it.

The weather is changing and it is getting colder - and that makes being home all the more comfy.  Soups are on the menu for fall, followed by pumpkin any and everything, and lots of hot drinks.

Happy Fall!
