Breakfast over the years has become one of my favourite meals of the day, there is nothing like starting the day right. It is especially awesome when I am extra motivated and we set the table all pretty and make something extra special - like cinnamon breakfast puffs - we use this recipe - I substitute the white flour for white whole flour, and the sugar in the batter for honey. They were a hit.
Fall is such homey time of the year. I feel so inspired and renewed during this time of the year, with so much motivation and creativity it feels like I am about to burst.
Every morning around the same time, these beautiful rays of sunshine pour into the living room. It is the prefect time for me to sit back finish my tea, and watch the kids build puzzles, planning out our day in my head. Hayleigh has finally graduated to real puzzles - and she can do them all by her self.
Even Millie loves the sunshine.
Learning our letters, writing and learning to read is the priority of the day. I would whole heartily recommend Wordy Worm to everyone. Ian loves it so much that he sings the tunes through at the day - while learning the phonics. It is amazing - we loves our mornings of learning and playing together. I just laminated some letter formations I found online, that way it can be used over and over.
While we are nestled into the house in the morning when the weather is crisp and cool outside, we tend to bake cookies. We have been craving our favourite oatmeal cookies for a while now. While I had all the ingredients on hand,we decided why not. We use this recipe.
Cookies are the best company for an afternoon of sewing - while the kids nap. I am so thrilled to be able to break out my sewing machine - many years ago may brother gave it to me as a wedding gift, and I love it. As the kids are getting older, I am finding a little more time where I am able to do thing like that again.
It is November and in good November style we made our Thankful Tree. We didn't make one last year since we were in that weird transition phase and we also didn't have all our stuff. I am so happy to be in our own house foe the holidays this year - to continue all of our traditions that we kind of neglected last year.
The kids are able to do more and more - so this year it was a group project.
The finish project.
Every day the kids will each get a leaf and will come up with something they are thankful for. For the small town folk who tend to be nosy - don't be alarm Hayleigh is thankful for her play baby, this is not some pregnancy announcement so please don't speculate. I just had to clarify :)
Afternoon snacks in the form of zucchini fries are always welcome.
Flowers are always a welcome sight - I love flowers and don't really care if it is waste and blah blah blah - they make all of us happy, the brighten up the room, and let's face it they are super beautiful.
We are excited for some new changed and some projects we have been working on for months that will launch at the end of the month - big things are coming for the Cook family.
Till then, happy Fall!
