Craf-tastic

We spend the weekend being crafty.  Yes, all weekend long, all of us.  It was amazing and beautiful, and it made me feel more at home - it reminded me of the normalcy that we had in Germany on Nate's off days.

We are slowly returning to that, and though I have come to peace with the fact that it will never be exactly the same again, it still sucks.

We are 98% done with the house, and man does it feel good.  Just a few lingering baseboard, pantry door and a laundry closet door, and we will be set.

That fact alone makes me crafty so much more enjoyable, because we have nothing hanging over our heads, that takes up so much time.

With Thanksgiving around the corner we decided to make the house a little festive with some fall crafts and decorations.

It was a blast - we already owned all the supplies (finger paint, card stock, crayons) to complete all the tasks.

See every year at the beginning of fall I scour the internet (also the evil pintest) for some fun ideas of things we can do - in the past it would become overwhelming because I would pick a hundred things and of course we don't have time for that.  This year I picked five easy things - that we can do on a whim since we already own all the items needed, and it was a huge success.

The kids loved it, even Nate got his hands dirty.  We spend almost all morning around the dining room table, laughing, talking and being led by the creativity within.

We started with the easy finger paint projects.

We ended up making a couple of different fall trees, and hand print acorns,.  Some new pieces for the stand up freezer.

I found this idea to make little fall leave sun catchers, and I thought it would be perfect for the french doors in the kitchen since the sun shines directly onto them in the late afternoon.

They turned out beautiful and vibrant in color.  Coffee filter crafts are the best!

By this time the kids have had enough so it was up to me to keep going, here lately that is not so hard since my motivation tends to be high.

A while back I saw this awesome little tutorial for making a little candle jar using fall leaves.  Well I had empty jars, and an old flimsy wreath, all perfect for the task at hand.

Now to add a little raffia around the neck of the bottle and to put a candle in and done.  This will be perfect for our Thanksgiving table.

I hope you are a little inspired.

Happy crafting!
