The house is still so empty without my parents, and I think the kids are finally coming to terms with it - the no longer stumble into the guest bedroom looking for them (how sad and somewhat depressing) we have been trying to adjust to our back to normal, trying to find our schedule and routine, and adding more things to our plate.
Nate has started some college classes to prepare him for Paramedic school next year, I am finally getting pictures hung on the walls. It has a ring of finality to it, I waited this long with the hopes that maybe this was just a dream and I would wake up back in Germany - but alias it isn't and we will be here for at least a little while. I have been in denial for a while over this move, and the fact that this has been the hardest adjust for me ever.
I was so thankful to have my parents here for a little while, for all the little encouragements they gave me, and for embracing our time here in Andrews.
I have also been hard at work on a fun and exciting endeavor, that I will share more about later. It is very exciting and will hopefully open lots of doors for our family.
We have been experimenting in the kitchen again, the more homey the house gets the more my old loves and passions start to surface again - it is amazing and inspiring.
Books are being pulled out all the time now, and the kids know I will randomly drop everything to read some of our favourtite stories.
Spontaneous movies nights with our favourite South African candy (thanks mom and dad) have also been making regular appearances, I don't know what we are going to do once we run out...
Also we wear our Christmas jammies throughout the year, because we can! No judging.
We have been slowly been trying to go back to the familiar and comfortableness that we were once use to, and slowly but surely we are getting there.
I miss all the little adventures we use to have in Germany and the wide range of fun activities. I have found a bunch of stuff to do here as well. We are finally figuring out our comfort zone, and being secure in it, regardless of other people's opinions or comments.
So the other afternoon we decided in the morning to go check out this little art studio in town called, Against The Grain. All I can say is, I am blown away!!
We decided to split up - the boys and girls, and do a little mosaic project - and it was so much fun. The kids didn't last super long, because they have this awesome kids room where you can paint on the glass, write with chalk on the floor, and just play - I mean who wouldn't want to do that.
So instead Nate and I got hang out while being crafty (the things he does for me) and we were also able to visit with sweet Andrea, while her older girls played with the littles.
It was so much fun! We are so going to go back!
We have some fun things planned for the kids the next couple of weeks, and then the holidays will start to approach. I am so excited for this time of the year, to slow down as the weather changed, and soak up my beautiful little family.
I will be sharing my heart on a few matters, in the weeks to come.
Happy Thursday!
