My parents left on Friday after a wonderful month of beautiful memories. I am so sad to see them leave, and my heart has a little void right now. The older I get the more I cherish every single minute I get to spend with my parents - something that I took for granted for so long.
Their visit was perfect timing - exactly when I needed it - I was the perfect combination of encouragement, yet you have to deal with your surroundings. It was also the perfect escape from adulthood for a little while, for my brain to be rewired, and my soul to be refreshed.
My kids loved every single minute of it, and we are all so sad and a little heartbroken that the house is all empty - we miss their sweet breaths of love.
Thank you for coming to see us, and for investing so much time, love and encouragement into our lives. Ian and Hayleigh are so lucky to have you guys, and I am so thankful that you were handpicked to be my mom and dad! We had the most wonderful time with you.
We love you deeply!

So last Friday I was preparing for a Lego party, baking a cake and getting all the decorations together. It was just a regular before the party day.
Nate was acting a little strange in the afternoon, but I didn't think much about it, even though it weirded me out.
We had decided to just got to dinner that night since I knew I was going to be so tired for being in the kitchen all day preparing for my little guys big day.
Fast forward. I was busy mopping the floors when Nate started to really get antsy and stressing the fact that I need to go take shower right now - I thought what the hell dude, I am cleaning.
Anyways I finished cleaning and went to change for dinner to his relieve...
As I returned to the living room, Nate informed me that there was someone at the door, and I should go answer it real quick, I was a little annoyed with him, but proceeded to the door...
This is what I found
The conversation proceed as followed.
Chantal: "Can I help you"
Dylan: "Happy Birthday
Chantal: "It's not my birthday, who are you looking for?"
All the while in my head I am think what the hell is going on, and why do I know this kid, but I think he is lost or at the wrong house.
Dylan: "Chantal"
Chantal: "Are you lost"
Dylan: - he looks over to someone at the end of the patio
I see a lady standing there, I am about to ask her if this is her son and what do you want when it click - Cathy, Dylan, and Phil. All the way from Utah!
Had it not been for this family eight years ago, Nate and I would have most likely never met.
Dylan was five weeks old when I became his nanny.
Then...
Now...
A few months later Nate and I met, and well the rest is history.
I had no idea that they were coming - in fact no one knew besides Nate. It was one of the sweetest surprises, and I am so thankful that they would take the time and effort to come and visit us in the middle of nowhere - literally!
We spend the rest of the Labor day weekend celebrating Ian's birthday (post coming later) and Cathy's birthday, and family just family because these people are part of my family.
It was laid back, my kind of get together, so much laughing and just togetherness (it makes me want to move to Utah)
We saw Cathy, Phil and Nick back in 2013 in Italy but I haven't seen Dylan since he was about two and a half years old.
The more the merrier for a Friday night dinner, at a delicious little diner.
Lots of catching up....
Lots of playing by big and little.
I just love them so much, and I am just so happy to still have them in my life after so many years.
Thank you Phil, Cathy and Dylan for making the trip and a much needed time - feel free to surprise me anytime.
We love you guys!

My not so little guy anymore turned five a few days ago - when exactly did that happen?
I can't comprehend it - I can remember the day he was born with so much clarity.\
I am a mixture of so many emotions.
He is obsessed with Lego.

They have always been SUPER close!! |
We are adjusting back to life with no company, and it feels weird, it is going to take me a little while to get use to it.
I am hoping that we will be left in peace, to continue to figure out live in a small town.
Happy Saturday!
