It has been seven weeks, and seven long weeks at that, when we first started the major renovation on our house. To be honest I planned to be done long before now, but of course I have no sense of real time, or the actual labor.
We are seven weeks into this and I am happy to say that we are half way done, (hopefully the rest won't take another seven weeks.) our plan is to finish the kitchen off next, and then move in and do the rest while we live there.
It has been fun, frustrating, and every other emotion imaginable under the sun for the most part - we have been stretched and stretched, and I am hoping the stretching will be done for a little while at least.
We have been so blessed to find super good deals, discounts, and more in various places to stretch the budget and to do as much as we can, and I am so in awe at how blessed we are and have been.
The last week has been gorgeous outside, so we loaded the kids bikes, made a make shift table in our weed jungle of a back yard, and started to paint all the bedroom doors, baseboards, and trims outside.
It has been so great, feeling the sun soak into my skin, hello long last vitamin D!!!
The kids of course, loved being able to play outside for hours on end, riding bikes, and little cars, picking flowers, building slides with discard boxes, and playing in the dirt.
To Nate's horror I have had lots of days dreaming about all the possibilities for our back yard :)
The old cabinets have been removed from the kitchen now, the little weird box above the cabinets has been but out, so we can elevate the cabinets and use the space,
So far everything has been going great, Nate and I have had little to no arguments over the order of things or working together in general, but my first lesson in renovation - never and I mean never lay sheet rock together -just saying!
Ian came to the rescue, and I just loves helping and every little thing you come up with for him to do, he does it with a huge smile on his face. It is the sweetest thing.
Next up, is cleaning the gross wall, that I am pretty sure never got cleaned, then texturing the wall, and ceiling, painting, and some of the cabinet boxes are already done. I can't wait for the kitchen, I am pretty confidant it is going to be my favourite room in the house.
I hope the weather stays beautiful and warm, there is something about the sunshine that drives and motivates us!
Happy Tuesday!
