Our Little Brick House

This morning I am sitting here, complete chaos by my feet, sipping on my tea, and constantly pinching my myself to make sure that I am awake, and not in some sort of a dream.

As of yesterday 29 January 2015, Nate and I are officially adults.  We are home owners in Texas.

I am still in shock, and part of me can't believe that it actually happened, and that it ended up happening.  We had everything together we were good to go, and Wednesday after we got the call, that we needed another paper and that closing will have to  move again.  I won't lie, I wanted to cry and just curl up on my bed.  This has been quiet the journey, an almost four month journey.

I should have know that it will happen last minute (it is the story of our life) - like the year we were loading our suitcases in the taxi to head to the airport, and at that exact moment the mailman came running with my passport and green card.

Yesterday at the last minute everything came through, and we were able to sign the stack of papers, pay our closing fee, and close this chapter in our lives, and we can finally start a the new one.

The kids did great, keeping it together at the Abstract office, while we had to sign this pile of papers!

All of this to buy a house, and then it is not even a fancy house!!!

I haven't seen my kids this excited in a while, and their excitement is contagious!  They have been truly amazing, having to deal with the last six months.

Our Realtor was the best, and she is the sweetest lady, and I am so thankful for her.  Anyone in Andrews need to buy or sell a house? Call Southwest Reality!

Anyways she handed me this key, and I love it!  We have a key for our own house - again pinch me!!!

We couldn't help ourselves.

After we got the keys, the kids desperately wanted to go to their new home, and Ian had the bright idea to have a picnic.  So we deiced that is the best idea ever.  We found a blanket some candles, order some take out, and had our own little picnic right in the middle of the empty, dark, and cold living room floor.  It was perfect, and amazing, and I have no words to describe our excitement.

Nothing says welcome home like an awesome cheeseburger, fried pickles, and an ice tea (we couldn't find decent wine) plus we wanted the kids to be apart of it, and this is the meal they picked.

We could not be more happy or excited.  At this point my heart is so full, and God is so faithful, and I am so thankful.

I can envision all of our beautiful memories yet to be created in this space.  It is going to be amazingly breathtaking.

Now that we have the house, all the renovations will begin, we have lot of work ahead of us, and will not actually move in until the end of February - but we will be working hard during the day.  Ripping up floors and laying new floors, painting, helping with some wall constructions.  Painting the outside, and making it our own.  Cottage house here we come :)

Keep an eye on this space for our work in progress, before and after photos, and everything we learned about doing it yourself.

For right now, we are just soaking it in, and if you are looking for us this weekend, you know where to find us...

Happy Friday!

PS.  Make sure to return next week for some more big news! Oh and for the record - I'm not pregnant!!
