This was a fun and hard week all at the same time. I started weaning Hayleigh from nursing, and I am happy to say that the crying only lasted two days, and as of today she is officially weaned. It is such a bitter-sweet thing, I really loved nursing and snuggling her so much. I can't believe she will be two next week. As for me, I will be really happy when my boobs return to normal size and I don't look like I wear a football helmet for a bra - sorry for the TMI!
We have enjoyed another peaceful week, seeking adventure in our new surroundings. I am slowly finding my bearings here in Andrews, and the kids are 100% back on schedule. Yes, yes, and yes!
The sunshine and warmth is so amazing. We spend lots of time in the back yard (well Nate and the kids do a little more then I) and they have come up with some creative ways to beat the heat, have fun, and stay entertained. Enter, small swimming pool (it's actually more like a wallow pool) - but hey the kids love it. They played in the water for hours, running around, laughing, and just having a great time.
We also set out for an impromptu adventure to the local duck pond, and the kids thought it was the coolest thing. They a blast feeding the ducks and the geese, and lone and behold a bunch of fish came up to the surface to eat as well. That just made Ian giggle and laugh, he love it. I do love watching them adapt and I am so proud of them for the way they have been adapting and getting along with bare minimal. Their favourite part about the Texas house, is the fact that we can be outside pretty much all the time. We are definitely making up for the loss of Vitamin D, from years living in Germany.
Ice cream on warm summer afternoons are the best, this is not quite gelato, but it will have to do, at least for now. Hayleigh is not really into sweet stuff, so she opted to share with mama, and I mean how can I say no to the sweetness. It is also probably better for my figure :) Ian didn't want his picture taken!
We are busy getting ready for our birthday marathon, three birthdays in two weeks. How fun is that. I have been searching for the perfect gifts, and making plans for the perfect birthdays for the kids. We are not doing anything crazy, but I am so excited to make their days extra special.
With that every year close to their birthdays I take pictures of them for the last page of their yearly photo books, and today was Hayleigh's day to model for me. Can I just say that I think she is absolutely beautiful, and I am so in love with her. She was a breeze and loved playing little model, I am hoping and praying Ian will cooperate when it is his turn next week. He did let me take one of him this afternoon, and he actually smiles and looked at the camera all at the same time, a rare occurrence.
Our family - well we are book worms, and we love love love reading. So I was so excited to hear that there is a library in Andrews, and to my surprise it is actually I really nice library. I am so impressed, so we ventured out to explore this little gem. The kids loved it, Nate and I love it, and they have a great variety of children books, maybe we can get Ian out if his everything must be Thomas rut. I am excited for our future trips to the library.
Nate and I have been blessed and encourage by some many, and we greatly appreciate it. We are waiting to hear back from a job opportunity and then we will take it from there. We are also making our petition know to God, and the fact that we would love to have a little piece of land to "homestead" on for our family, and to became self-sustained. Your prayers are still appreciate, as we desire to follow God's will for our life.
We are excited for more family time this weekend, and for meeting our nephew for the first time.
Happy Thursday!
