Our First Week In Texas

I can't believe we have been here for one week already, it went by pretty fast.  We are still adjusting a little bit, but every day gets easier and easier.

We are officially over the jet-lag and that have made things so much easier.  We are finally on somewhat of a schedule, and our dream of the kids not going to bed with the sun has come true.  No more six o clock bed times,  but more like seven-thirty, and that is very reasonable.  We have more time to play in the afternoons, and enjoy oupa and ouma after work.

I have not been taking as many pictures as I should, and I will be honest, sometimes I am just to overwhelmed to do it.  The fact that everyone around us speaks English, is enough to freak me out, ha!

We ventured out the other day, and went to Midland to check out all the grocery stores and to figure out a plan on how to obtain descent and wholesome food.  We had a great time, even though it was overwhelming (to many choices) and my kids had a break down in every aisle of the store, we pressed one.  We also discovered this really nice deli, that serves wholesome and organic food.  It was delicious, and the plus part completely affordable.  We paid less then we would have at a fast food joint.  This makes me happy!

The kids have been loving oupa and ouma's backyard.  They love playing outside even in the Texas heat.  I think they are in love with the birds, grass, and cats in the back yard.  It does make me happy that they would rather be outside then watch TV or play on electronics.  We have even been blessed to work in the vegetable garden, and the kids love it.  Hopefully this will encourage Ian to be less picky.

I have made my way back to the kitchen, and my sweet mother-in-law has given me permission to invade her kitchen.  It feels good to cook and bake and prepare some meals for the family.  This week we made mustard chicken skewers, and broccoli slaw (both will be on the blog soon.)

The part we were most excited about to move to West Texas.  Drum roll please! Friends!! We are so excited for the kids and I to have friends and we are most likely not going to up and leave anytime soon.  Ian has finally started to refer to his new friends by their names, something he hasn't done in quite sometime because everyone always moved away (depressing to see that in a not even four year old) - we are blessed! This week we have had multiple meet up with these boys, and we are all one big family.  Ona and Jeremy were pretty much adopted by Nate's parents since all their kids lives far away, and this makes our kids cousins.  And I am happy about that, let me rephrase that I am more then happy, it makes me want to do cartwheels in the backyard.  I see a beautiful thing growing right before my eyes, and I am so excited to see were it goes.

We have been crafting away with Kiwi Crate this week (sign up and we all get $10 discount) and it has been a blast.  I finally upgraded Ian and I am so happy I did.  This months theme is adventure and camping, and it is perfect for right now.  We get all the craft supplies neatly in a box and all we have to do is put it all together, and the kids loved it.  We made explorer back packs (will be using them for our scavenger hunt) and a little indoor fire with fake marshmallows.  So later this week we will complete the rest of the activities, and I am so excited.  I love that it makes them think, it's hands on, and it encourages finding interests and exploring. Oh, and I did a little add on for Hayleigh so she will have a little project as well, instead of just a toy.

We have had this week to adjust and feel the place out, and we are so at peace and happy to be here.  Next week Nate will be sending in all his applications, and we are in the mean time looking for a piece of land to buy.  Any and all prayers are greatly appreciated as we make this transition.  We are excited for the future and every God has in store for our family.

It is always the five week birthday routine were we have three birthdays in the house in the next five weeks, so I am cake planning, gift planning, and dinner planning, thank goodness we scratch the idea of a big birthday party.  I can't believe my babies will be two and four.

It's weekend, and that means we have other birthday parties to attend, and two full days with oupa and ouma.

Happy Friday!
