We have moved into furnished apartment on base, and will stay here until our flight on Thursday. It is not that bad, it is larger then I thought, we have three bedrooms, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a washing machine, and tumble dryer. It is conveniently right by a park (for the kids) and walking distance to several places on base. We have settled in somewhat unpacking clothes for the week - ok on side note, I am not use to closet space anymore, German houses generally do not have, we have walls and walls of closets in this place, so I had to unpack something.
Here are some pictures for the curious....
The kids and I have just been hanging around, while Nate out process from here for us, so we can leave on Thursday. We have not had TV (as in cable) since we moved here. So Ian has been curling up on the couch every morning watching some shows on TV. He is so cute, all snugly and curled up on the couch, under my favourite blanket ever.
One thing I am really going to miss, the German bakeries. It is one of my favourite things about Germany. After our first night in our apartment, we went to breakfast at the bakery, and since everyone ate, we decided donuts were in order, since the little people were amazing while the movers packed our stuff. Ian and I are bakery junkies, we are in a for a rude awakening once we get to the States, sigh!
We have been so blessed to make some sweet friends here. One better parts of the move is, we have friends who live in the building next door, they are flying out on Monday, and they are also going to Texas, we will be six hours from each other, but it is still comforting. On Friday night we decided to have an impromptu dinner, it kind of happened like this "our pantry is finally empty, so we are going out to eat," my response "come over and help us empty ours before we head it," it turned into a beautiful little evening. The kids played contently even though naps didn't happen earlier, we had a great conversation, yummy food, and some delicious wine (I miss my wine glasses.) I am so grateful for the people we were able to meet here, and the friendships we gained. Next time, I see these cute little babies, they are going to be so much bigger!!!

| Meet Mirka, my Finnish friend, yes I had to say that because I think it is so cool! |
We had our last lunch at the fire station on Saturday (well it was suppose to be our last, but we are going back for dinner on Wednesday.) The kids and I have grown to love the the fire station and to visit Nate on weekends. Ian is so at home there, always wanting to check out the trucks, hold all the equipment, and they have grown so comfortable among all the fire guys. I love the patience, friendliness, and kindness these men had shown my family, and I that will always be dear to my heart. I love all the Germans that have though us some culture, and shown us so much kindness. It is bitter sweet thing to leave, friendships always seem to bloom at the last minute, and then it is time to leave. Thank you for fire station 4 for becoming part of our family, we will surely miss you!
The kids played at the park to kill sometime, and Ian is becoming such a awesome climber. I really enjoyed watching him play!!!He has come such a long way, and I love to see him grow in confidence, to succeed in climbing and playing.
I was finally able to meet baby Lylah, and can I just say within one second she stole my heart. This little girl is such a fighter, born prematurely weighing one pound, she has grown to a hearty five pounds in the last two months. I so happy I finally was able to meet her, and snuggle her and spend some time with her parents. She is one lucky girl, to have such sweet parents. She might be so tiny, and she has left such a huge imprint on my heart. It makes me sad that we met them so late in the game, once again.....
We are just enjoying out last says in Germany, enjoying the sunshine, eating amazing food, and reflecting on our time here.
As the day creeps up, my heart aches a little more, but we are still confident in our decision to leave.
Happy Sunday!!
Oh, and finally look at that string of hair. I am so proud!
