The kids and I have been somewhat stranded since my car is still in for repair after our adventure on the side of the autobahn (you can read about that here.) We have been trying to make the best of it, and it has been a challenge since Nate is in a class all week, and it is completely different from our regular schedule. But we learn to adapt and survive. The good thing about being stranded at home? It forces motivation to be productive and that is exactly what the kids and I have been up too, in between playing dress up, .reading books, and having a puppet show.
My kids are goof balls, but I love it. They have grown so much, and their imaginative play is simply amazing, I love love love watching them, and sometimes standing in another room just to listen yo what they come up with, and most of the time my mind is blown. How teaches kids all these things?
The weather has been so beautiful, that we unintentionally started this routine, of playing outside all afternoon after rest time, and the added bonus, it encourages them to nap without putting up a fight. Ian can play cars on fake chalk drawn roads for hours, and Hayleigh is usually all up in my business while I complete little projects in the gargae, like staining or painting every piece of furniture that I own. Spray painting frames, and really just doing whatever I feel like. The current project is finishing the puppet house that Nate build a couple of months ago. Sometimes I find myself sitting in the sun in the driveway and just watching Ian play, while he has so in depth conversation with me.

A couple of weeks ago the kids and I planted our little seeds for our really small vegetable garden this year. We had to narrow it down since we are moving, and originally we weren't going to do anything, but then the bug bit me and I just couldn't imagine not doing it, so we decided to stick with the basics and take it from there.
This year has been so much fun, just because the kids are super into watching the seedlings sprout and even taking care of the plants. They have been helping me water the plants, take some gardening notes, and Ian even observes and mentions some changes that took place. I love that they are learning and starting to appreciate growing your own food. It is such a fun family activity.
Our seedlings are ready to be replanted (we make that a project this weekend) and my lavender that was pretty much dead have grown into a beautiful green bush with a little flower and is now ready to be replanted outside. I really didn't think I would be able to nurture it back to health.
We have a really really small yard by our house and there is really not room to make a garden outside and I really don't feel like walking half a block away to the other piece of land that goes with the house to make an outside garden. So we decided to embrace our skinny sun room. It is perfect for a little veggie patch. I am so shocked at how well it worked last year, and even this year seems super promising.
I decided in to share our little veggie patch in pictures, just like the rest of the house, so we have some sort of "dairy" of our house here in Germany.
This week we also had a little art project and we decided to use rocks [collected from the yard] to make some stone markers for our pots so that we can easily identify our plants. We had a lot of fun panting these.
Without further a due, here is our veggie patch.
