s'wonderful

Nate has been off for the last three days, and all I can say is what a wonderful life we have.  We might not be rich, have a super fancy house, drive a luxurious car, but we have a beautiful life, a family, and love, and I would not exchange that for anything.

The kids and I love it when Nate is home, sure having help with the kids and the house is always nice, but the kids and I so all the cleaning, laundry, and so on the day before the k-day starts, that way it is all play and hanging out when daddy is home.

It is always a shock when he has to go back to work after three days at home, but we slowly adjust and go about our normal routine.

We played, we ready stories, bakes cookies, went on a walk, bought groceries [going to the grocery store is one of my their favourite outings - weird I know], made this delicious beef and barley soup, played fire fighter to the rescue, wore pirate hats, had sword fights, build train tracks. danced to some fun music, and snuggled whiled watching a move.  Life just doesn't get any better than that.

Monday afternoon nap allowed me to enjoy the following...

Peppermint tea and a book with just pictures, how awesome is that, just pictures.  I loved the randomness of all the photos, and it inspires me to be more creative and take more pictures.

I have been trying to be a little more organized and to do more crafty things with the kids, or at least come up with a few things [besides coloring] to do a couple of times a week.  Ian will paint for hours on end, and be content, Hayleigh will last about 15 minutes and call it good.  Me, I am so content watching my boy paint his heart out, and create something beautiful.  He is always so proud of his creations, and I love instilling creativity in my children.  I think it is important.

Finger painting soon turned into pirate hat making.  It made me laugh out loud.  I was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and I giggled and chuckled to myself several times.  I could hear all the epic sword fighting battled going in the living room, and soon being a pirate turned into being a fire fighter.  I know Nate's heart was swelling with pride, Ian didn't just chose any fire fighter. he chose to be part of Rescue.   Soon emergencies were being called out, and rescue strategies were being put in place, dangerous fires were being put out.  At the end of the night Ian declared his new name as "Ian fire figher."  I might also add that, that night when I came down stairs after putting Hayleigh to bed, I walked by his room, and his was toning out emergencies from his bed.  That my friend, is fire fighting blood in is veins.

Story hour is making a come back.  I have decided to dedicate an hour every morning to read stories on a blanket on the floor.  We love books, and we read a lot, but sometimes we get busy and sitting down with the intent to read ends on the back burner.  My kids love books, and Nate and I read all the time, so why not making it a fun adventure?

We also made these little cinnamon squares.  Recipe will follow in another post.  They are so easy to make and delicious.  The make the house smell divine, and what  a yummy sweet treat to accompany afternoon tea.

These last three days were perfect just what I needed.  I feel refreshed, and I feel like I am in a better place then the last couple of weeks.  Spending time as a family is the most amazing time of my life, and I would not have it any other way,  Sure sometimes I need a breather, like going to buy groceries by myself but most of the time I love being with all three of them.

They make every minute of my life worth while, every heartache turns to joy, and every tear ends in a smile.  I would not change my kids for the world, I am blessed!

We are back in the real world today.  Nate is back at work, and I am home with the babies.

Happy Wednesday, make today count!
