We finally took the plunge and made our way to the pumpkin patch in the muddy mess the rain left us. Very common here in Germany, rain is the German sunshine.
I didn't really feel like going, but it was the last weekend for them to be open, and I knew the kids would love it. I am so happy we decided to go because the weather cleared up and it turned into a beautiful real sunshine day.
I can't believe that this is Ian's fourth fall. I love love love this time of the year. Everything is even more fun now, since he is comprehending things and really into learning and participating. This what I have been waiting for since they were born, that they will love and appreciate the little small traditions our family come up with.
Back to the pumpkin patch we had a blast, the kids in particular. The muddy mess, made it even more fun. By the time we left we had to scrap shoes clean, change clothes and wash hands. It was so worth it though, their little faces were priceless.
We only got two little pumpkins for them to paint, and they had a blast.
We also decided on a whim to go over to my friends house. She is from Finland, and I just love
learning all of their holiday traditions and food. So she taught me how to make Finnish cinnamon rolls, and lets just say I am ruined and in love. These rolls are like one of the most delicious things I have ever had, and so simple and easy.
FINNISH CINNAMON ROLLS:

* 2tsp salt
* 2tbsp cardamon

* 1200ml flour
* 42g active yeast
* brown sugar [as much or little as you want]
* cinnamon [as much or little as you want]
* hagel zucker for crunch [I don't know what this is in English - it is sugar crumbs]
directions:
1. Add the yeast to the water.
2. Once the yeast did it's thing, add the sugar, salt, cardamon, butter, flour and 2 eggs. Use your hands to knead the dough or dough hooks untill a soft ball forms.
3. Let the dough rest in a warm dry place, for at least an hour. [add some flour to the bowl and the top of the dough, so it doesn't stick to your towel.]
4. Roll out the dough in a rectangle. [alternatively you can cut the rolled out down into stripes twist them and roll them into a circle]
5. Spread some butter onto the dough, and add the brown sugar and cinnamon, spread it out.
6. Roll up the dough. long way.
7. Cut the roll into multiple sections, in a almost triangle form.
8. Hold the triangle form long side up, and push into the middle.
9. Heat up the oven too 200C.
10. Let the cinnamon rolls rest until the oven is ready. Seperate the third egg, and wish the yoke.
11. Once they are ready to go into the oven, paint a little egg yoke over the rolls, and sprinkle the hagel sugar on top.
12. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Happy Sunday!
