My brother and his family live in Cape Town, so we spent most of the evenings, as well as the one weekend we were in town with them.
It was also the first time that we were able to meet my adorable niece, and in our house she is simply baby Lara <3 she is a cutie.
I am a food lover, and food markets are my jam. My brother and them introduced us to the loveliest little food market, Root 44.
We spent all morning there, were I was able to walk around and try a bunch of things, and it was all delicious!
The kids loved the time with their baby cousin, I have to admit - I did too.

After our morning of delicious indulgence, we took all the kids to Butterfly World. We were slightly disappointed in the lack of butterflies, but there were a bunch of other things to see. The kids enjoyed a chill and kind of stress free afternoon of roaming, looking, and finding.
We were totally those tourist and did the hop-on-hop-off bus.
The kids loved going on this bus, and we did the route that went to Houtbay. It is a cute little harbor town, and once we got there we hopped onto a little boat to go to Seal Island. It is basically a big rock in the middle of the house with a huge population of male Cape Fur Seals.
We had so much fun on the boat, and the kids felt like they were in a National Geographic show in this trip, so much wild life - everywhere.
Houtbay is a super cute little harbor, and we had so much fun walking around, checking out some of the janky boats, and looking for more sea life - we found a few seals in the harbor, a jelly fish, seagulls, and some fish.
Fish and chips on the beach front has always been fun.
and frozen yogurt to end a fabulous day.
Nate was able to visit one of the local fire stations, and exchange some notes, learn how they do things, and just kind of check out all of their things. It was a fun experience - they were surprised to have visitors and it's not common at all.
We made a stop at Cape Point. South Africa's scenery is just so gorgeous.
This is also where the kids were completely and utterly traumatized by baboons - like we walked around with giant rocks and pepper spray just in case. See when people think it is all cute and cuddly to feed wild animals - it does more harm then good. While we were taking photos and walking around a bit, these baboons started to harass people (they actually became quiet aggressive,) and this poor unexpected family got robbed by a baboon - like this baboon climbed into their van, took what it wanted (a backpack) and sat in the parking lot completely destroying the bag and everything inside. It was frightening, and made me angry. The moral of the story? Please don't ever feed wild animals because it does become a problem, and in the end the animal pays the ultimate price.
Anyways enough about that. We had a super fun time at Cape Point - it was a gorgeous, gorgeous day, no wind and lots of sunshine.
Chapman's Peak is such a beautiful little drive with a stunning view.
Our time in Cape Town was pretty fast pace, and we had long days, but it was so beautiful. It was nice to see my brother and them a little bit here and there.
By the end of this trip we were ready to head to the beach house, to rest and just have some time together.
Stay tuned for the rest of our adventures.
Happy Tuesday!
