Soaking Up The Last Of Pretoria

Just like that a little bit more than six weeks have passed.  I am always so shocked that the time seems to pass insanely fast.

The kids and I have done and seen so much in these last few weeks, and the time with my parents have been invaluable.

I am so blessed to have the parents that I do, and I don’t take them for granted for a moment.  I love watching them as grandparents, and seeing their special bond with the kids.

They have been so gracious and in giving me little breaks (parenting is not for the faint hearted) – to enjoy dinner out with friends, go shopping, taking the kids on a little adventure so I can spend the day with my friends,  or even just take a long bath on a Sunday afternoon.

In this case I went to dinner with some of my best friends - the food was fabulous!

The kids had an adventure of their own with oupa and ouma.  I got these pictures from my dad <3

We spend Easter with my mom and dad, and though I generally love holidays – I did love the simplicity of our Easter.  We did nothing, we had a last minute Easter egg thing – and by thing I mean making a trail with eggs to a basket in a tree – ha! The kids loved – so I call that a win.

We have been enjoying my dad’s cooking – and have been eating all the mutton we can get our hands on (man do I miss it) – and it has been flavorful and fantastic.

Enjoying a glass of wine around the pool while the kids play, has also been fabulous

I love my mom’s garden – it is beautiful and so peaceful.  I am so going to miss it.... the chirping birds in the morning.

It has been a hard week in saying our last good-byes before we move onto our next part of this trip.  I love my people here so much.

I had dinner with my childhood friend last night, we have been friends for over twenty-five years.  She is basically like the sister I never had.  We have some of the best memories together - multiple vacations together, road trips, sleepovers - you name it.  I am going to miss her so so much - I always do <3

The kids and I spend the day with my good friend (and their godmother) for the day.  Soaking up the last.  We all love this lady so much, she is hilarious, so much fun, authentic, and it just so peaceful to be around her.  I always cherish our time together, soaking up her sweet presence, her down to earth advice, and over all humor.  I am super blessed to call her my friend, and wish she could live just down the street so we can have our morning coffee or tea (for me) together.

We went to this awesome little cafe, with delicious food, a lovely garden, and such a nice atmosphere.  The turmeric latte was to die for, and I got my fix of traditional South African food - bobotie.  It was fantastic.

We have had such great time in Pretoria of the last almost six week.  Seeing my parents, family and friends.  We are ready to move onto the coats, to spend time with my brother and his family (I get to be an aunt) and of course meeting up with Nate.

It is crazy to think we have three weeks before we will head back to West Texas ;(

I am so grateful for this time, to cherish more time with family.

We will have limited to no internet for the rest of the time.

Happy Friday!

*** See you soon Nathaniel <3
