Monte Casino Bird Gardens

We have been without internet for a little while now, and it has been so hard to update and share pictures.  Currently I am at my sweet friends house trying to update everything before we live for Cape Town next week.

At this moment weekends are the best because my parents aren’t working – we are waiting for Nate, then everyone will be on vacation.

So on weekend we make the best of our time together, and follow through with many types of adventures.

This weekend we went to The Monte Casino Bird Gardens – it is one of our favorite outings and we also go at some point when we are home.  Ian has been participating in this little adventure since he was eleven months old, and it remains a favorite.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and in combination with the architecture just make it even more pleasant to the eye.

They have a wide variety of all animals,
A variety of birds…

Reptiles…

Frogs…

Lemurs and other small animals…

The bird show is what makes a lasting impression.  The kids love it, hell I love it even as an adult.  What I love is that birds were rescued and made some impressive recoveries, in the hands of those who work hard towards conservation, and making all the tomorrows better.

My dad and I have been taking this same selfie on the same spot for the last several years - old school style ;)

The kids loved feeding the ducks - always a high!

I always love these times with parents, were they get to such fun things with the kids.  I am starting to wish that I was able to live closer to them, so there wouldn’t be so many missed opportunities.
Seeing my kids with my parents, and my parents with my kids – it just does something to my heart – I can’t even explain it.  It is something so beautiful and special, and I will always hold it near and dear.  I love these memories that we are making, and the fact that the kids can remember different bits and pieces from each one of our visits amazes me.

We enjoyed a quick little lunch together, I will never turn down food.
And then we headed home to enjoy a relaxing afternoon together.

I believe that our time here is rapidly approaching the end… we have a few days left before Nate joins us (a welcomed thought) in Cape Town – and our legit vacation begins.

Happy Sunday!
