It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and I could not be happier. I love this time of the year, I love the warm and coziness with lots if twinkling lights.
As the kids are getting older, it gets funner and funner, because they are starting to remember most of our little traditions, and they are starting to look forward to all the festivities and activities.
Starting September the day after Ian's birthday they started to ask and mention Christmas and all the special and fun things we do together.
We actually decided on a whim to set up the Christmas tree one afternoon (instead of on the planned day later the week.) If you know me well that is a big deal, because I love having a plan and schedule and well I didn't have hot chocolate or donuts ready (a special tradition.)
But we went with it the local coffee shop and the local doughnut stop the rescue.
With delicious treats and Christmas music in the background set the perfect atmosphere for a family afternoon.
It seriously gets better and better each year - less frustrating (at times) since the kids are able to hold their own.
As they are getting older, it makes me want to get into it even more because they love it, and I don't feel like what is the point or that no one even cares. In our house Christmas time is big care - it is fabulous.
I have continued the tradition of ditching the glass balls, and over time I have collected a ton of handmade, soft, or not shattering ornaments. I love having a kid tree, it just makes it all the more fun.
I have to up my dated ornament game - because well a. last year I totally forgot probably because we spent half of December in South Africa, and b. this year it already slipped my mind.
I have to admit that I do miss Christmas time in Germany, where is cold and snowy - and everything quickly transforms into a winter wonderland. Oh, and did I mention my love for Christmas markets - I miss that so much.
This year we decided to make our own little wonderland all around the house - it is a work in progress and I have found a bunch of awesome sales to spread the Christmas cheer throughout the house. The kids think it is the coolest thing ever, and well I have to agree.
We kind of get Christmas obsessed around here - and it makes everyone so happy - twinkling lights wrapped around everything in house makes me instantly happy.
Our Decembers are generally filled with baking, cozy movie afternoons, crafting, reading, and just being together. I absolutely hate being busy, and refuse to fall into the holiday rush - life is too short for that. I refuse for such a fun time of the year to leave me stressed, burnt out, and just empty - so I have opted out of somethings that seems pointless even though everyone else is doing it - and am decided to stick with the things that fills us up, and brings us joy. Mindful living.
Also looking back at old blog posts makes me realize and see how much the kids have grown - oh my gosh, ridiculous.
Just look at them.
Happy Christmas time!
Doing life with these three is pure bliss!
