Corn Maze Fun

I went to a corn maze for the first time back in 2014, shortly after moving back to the United States.  A lot has happened since then.

We have extended our stomping grounds a little to find new ways to make our time here in West Texas somewhat easier.

It was the annual home school day at our favorite little fall farm in Lubbock, the moons aligned - Nate was actually off and so it turned into a beautiful little family outing.

It was cloudy day after all the rain we have had, but it was actually perfect because the Texas sun is generally super hot.

This farm puts so much time and effort into making the space look beautiful, and inviting.

I love all the pumpkins everywhere.  So many different colors, shapes, and sizes.

This kids love running around on the green grass, and running up and down from the little pond with fish.

As usual the corn maze was epic, and a ton of fun.  Actually it was more fun then usual because now that Ian can read he was able to read and follow the clues - and well we only got lost twice.

It was such a blast.

You get to pick your own category for questions to get through the maze.  The kids picked tiny tots - it was basic kid questions.

We got this amazing kettle corn popcorn for a snack before heading into the maze, and it was seriously delicious - I am not a big fan of sweet popcorn, but I loved this.

We wondered around the maze for a couple of hours, giggling at the thought of being lost, running ahead just to attempt to jump our from the corn in order to scared the rest of the family, and just hanging out.

Every time you see one of these....

  you answer a questions...

and then you go on your way hoping you answered correctly or knew left from right.

The little cow train is always a hit - and this time the kids went all by themselves.

These goats were seriously the cutest!  They reminded me so much of my grandpa and his farm.

The last time we went we had no idea that there was a little pumpkin patch - so we made sure to go check it.  It was a little hay ride to the patch, and then you get to walk around and pick out some pumpkins.

 Meet lady - funny story.

So at the beginning of spring Hayleigh found a lady bug in our garden - she named it lady, they walked around together in the yard, and "played" together, that lady bug just hang out on her finger FOREVER.

So she let it go at the end of the, after that whenever we would say any lady bug anywhere she would say it is lady even if you try to explain that there are tons of lady bugs.  I just left it at that.

So she found lady at the pumpkin patch and they walked around for a while, and she put lady on this pumpkin and went on her way.

So we got on the trailer hooked to the tractor to head to back little farm area.  Another family behind is were talking to their friends and some how the mom mentioned that her daughter squashed a lady bug - immediately Hayleigh started to mourn her beloved lady. We tried to tell her that maybe it was a different lady  bug, but to no avail.  Poor girl.

We weighed our pumpkins and then headed to lunch.  We can never go in that direction and not eat at one of our favorite diners.

It was such a fun day.

I love days like this - it brings back the a little glimmer of all our adventures before, and I am hoping that one of these days we will once more return to those adventurous roots.

We are loving this fall weather and everything associated with it, and I love that the kids get excited about things like pumpkin bread, and well just everything pumpkin.

Fall is like a mini restart for the last stretch of the year, and I always feel so expired.

We are moving on the next thing on our list - apple picking.  Hopefully in a week or so.

Happy fall friends!
