{recipe} Traditional Hummus

Ian and I can live off hummus.  We love that you can pretty much eat anything with it - from crackers, to fresh veggies, you can even top a salad with it.  It adds a great protein boost to any meal or snack - and the flavors are so blond.  It is something simple to have on hand for late afternoon snacking.

TRADITIONAL HUMMUS:
* makes one large bowl

30oz canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
10 tbsp olive oil (make sure you buy unaltered olive oil)
3 tbsp water
2 lemons, juiced
2 tbsp tahini
3 garlic cloves, peeled
2 1/2 tsp ground cumin
celtic sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper

* I recommend using organic/grass-fed/high quality ingredients from reputable companies when feasible.

Place all the ingredients in the bowl of a food processor (this is the food processor I own and love.)  Simple blend until smooth.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
