One of my all time favorite things that we use to do in Germany was going strawberry picking. We did it pretty much every year since Ian could walk, and way before I started this blog.
I was so ecstatic when I kind of accidentally stumbled upon a little farm just outside of Midland, I have been so eager to try it out. Bonus points - the strawberries are organic.
I had to not get my hopes up because our strawberry picking experiences have been in little meadows surrounded by woods, and pure nature. Now I live in a desert, and actually a very very ugly desert - so I had to be open minded and not get my hopes way up.
I was pleasantly surprised.
My kids (especially Hayleigh) are strawberry lovers, they get it from me. We can devour them in mere minutes.
It was such a fabulous little outing.
The minute we entered the greenhouse it was over, they scattered ans started picking like crazy in order to fill up their little buckets, I loved it.
I seriously had so much fun with the kids, for once there was no drama, no one was crying and or whining, and well they weren't fighting either - score.
I loved walking in between the rows of strawberries, seeing hundreds of them, ready to be picked.
It was actually every therapeutic, I love gardening so much.
We picked so many strawberries. They were absolutely delicious. So sweet and juicy. We all loved them so much.
Everyone was pretty much done by the time we filled all our buckets, it was extremely hot (103 F or 40 C) - luckily we went first thing in the morning because it got even hotter as the day went on.
I am so enjoying summer right now - heat and all.
It has been so exciting and motivating to get out and do a little more - our old ways.
We are still slowly getting back to out adventurous past, but I am so grateful for the now moments - just the four of us.
Happy Tuesday!
