South Africa: Crocodile Farm Adventures

I can't believe we have been in South Africa for a whole month already. Time always goes by so fast when we come home.

It has been such a nice break, no rush, and I never thought I would say this since Fall and Winter is my favourite time of the year - but it has been so nice to skip the hustle and bustle of this season this year.

We have had quite a few adventures, and I took a break from pictures, since Hayleigh had  a little accident a few weeks ago, that resulted in an Emergency Room visit, a MRI, and bruised and swollen little face.  So out of respect for her little feelings, I didn't take a ton of pictures....

This weekend we visited the Inyoni Estate Crocodile Farm.  Ian is super obsessed with crocodiles here lately, so it was the perfect adventure.

We had the best time, and the owners of the farm were amazing, they engaged with the kids, taught them so much, gave them an awesome experience and tour, and they walked away with some super neat souvenirs.  I was super impressed and would recommend this place.

We started with a little educational talk.  They loved it, learned so much.

Lettie let us touch, feel, and see all of these amazing things - the skull, teeth, eggs, skin - you name it.  It was a hit.

We were a little early this year to see the tiny babies (they hatch around December) but they were super sweet and took us into the nursery where the once that is a little older then a year old.  They even caught one for us to touch and look at.

And then we toured the rest of the place.  Different ages and sizes.

This makes my heart so happy!

I have never seen such gigantic crocodiles in my life.  They were enormous.  The alpha male is about 19 feet long - it kind of freaked me out a little bit.  Pictures do not do it justice since there is no reference point like a coin, or a person.

They have a nice little garden you walk through with tortoises and they also had a pair of blue cranes (South Africa's National Bird) - it was beautiful day.

Ian is also now the proud little owner of a crocodile skull.

I am so impressed with this experience.  It was so much, and even I learned so much.

we had a quick lunch, walked through the African market, and then stop at Jasmyn.  It is like a farmers market that is part of a store.

They also had the most beautiful garden, Hayleigh was her in own little heaven.

I love getting out again, and doing fun things with the kids.  I can't wait to take them on a safari at the end of the month.

This is going to be a good week again!

Happy Monday!
