South Africa: Pretoria Zoo

Our family really enjoy going to the zoo.  I am not here to debate all the controversies about zoos etc.  We simply enjoy going, learning, exploring, and seeing animals would not have the opportunity to see in real live.

I have a soft spot for the Pretoria Zoo, because I spent my high school years volunteering there, it was a blast.

We literally spend all day at the zoo.  We took the little cable car up to the top, and then slowly weaved our way back down the little mountain.

Finding all the animals on our "zoo spotter" paper.  It was an idea that I saw somewhere, and I thought it would be cute.

Ian was very dedicated marking of each animal as we saw them.  Hayleigh on the other hand, she lost hers half way through :) - that is ok though.  Because all I wanted was for them to have fun.

Pretoria.

It was such a beautiful spring day, sunny with a light breeze.  Filled with adventure and discovery.

They ran, explored and laughed so much.  Miss Elzabe was the perfect zoo companion.

We found the sun dial - and it was actually accurate.  Something fun and different.

and then we just continued on our little adventure....

I love these stories scattered all over the zoo.

I am such a sucker for rhinos, and we got to see one up close - it was kind of amazing because at the rate things are going there might not be any left to see.

Ian's favorite part - the crocodiles.....

and all the reptiles - snakes, lizards, dragons, frogs, toads, and turtles.

We seriously had the best day.

We are so loving being home in South Africa, the sunshine and the beautiful weather.

I am so excited for all the other adventures we have scheduled for the kids, and especially our little safari at the end of the month.

I can't believe how fast the time is flying by.
