It has been a harder then usual adjustment thanks to vicious stomach bug that made rounds.
We have been taking it super easy, just hanging around the house, soaking up the sun, delicious food, and family.
I am so happy to be home, and super excited for the adventures to begin.
Enjoying some small things in South Africa.
#1 Spring swimming
Growing up we were only allowed to swim after the first rain storm or once the water reached a certain temperature. These rules when straight out the door, and impressed that my dad braved the cold cold water for the kids.
#2 Birthday cupcakes
We arrived on Ian's actual birthday (we celebrated early with Nate) and cupcakes waited for us. They were delicious.
#3 Lamb chops
My all time thing to braai (BBQ) and I miss it so much - I have yet to come across a good deal on lamb chops in the States. Oh, and my dad cooks it perfectly!
#4 Sunshine and outside play
The African sun has done miracles for us. We are loving the fact that we can play outside and it not be scorching hot, but so comfortable and sunny.
#5 Flowers everywhere
Hayleigh can continue her obsession with flowers, thanks to my moms beautiful garden.
#6 Uncle Charl
We were able to spend some time with my brother and his wife (they live in Cape Town) and the kids loved it.
#7 Spring
The fresh smell of Spring, and all the beautiful flowers blooming, makes me so happy! We love to just walk through the nursery...
#8 Biltong & Droeewors
One of the things I miss the most. It is basically jerky but so much better, fresher, and made with real meat - none of the cardboard in a bag.
#9 Spending a week with my grandma
One of my favourite things to do when I come home is to have my grandma with me for a week or so. We generally sit together, drink way to much tea, chit chat, and then I admire her knitting skills. It is a fabulous time - and oh so special. It is also emotional because it might be the last time I see her....
#10 Afternoon ice cream
What is not to love? We migrate into the sun, stretch out on the grass, and indulge in these special treats. My kind of life.
#11 Enjoying some of my favourite things food wise (proudly South African)
There is a few things I always love to eat when I come home, so I slowly start to check things of my list.
- koeksusters (surypy fried batter)
- candy
We are so excited for all of our adventures to begin now, to see some more family, and to do a little bit of traveling.
It feels good to be home, and to see my parents all the time - I do miss them so much!!
Happy Monday!
