Another year celebrated, and I am so extremely blessed that I was celebrated by the ones I love most.
Nate came off shift the morning of my birthday, so if you are daddy that comes of shift and it is a mommy's birthday - you get to buy breakfast. So that is just what he did - who doesn't like donuts for breakfast? All dressed up on a small cake stand with a candle?
I love it! It might just be my new favorite!
It was a simple but busy day - nothing like going to an optometry appointment and realizing just how bad your vision is at 28 :) so a pair of glasses for my birthday it is!
We had lunch at our favorite pizza joint - and of course it was hit!
I am such a sucker for anything handmade, especially jewelry with meaning. So I got this beauty, with all three their birthstones - well actually all for us, since Hayleigh and I share the same birthday month - score!
We actually did the kids birthdays early this year, since the three of us will be leaving for South Africa before Ian's real birthday - and we wanted to celebrate with Nate as well.
So this year I had my own cake again - yay! We normally just did leftover cake from Hayleigh's birthday the day before - sad I know!
Look at the beautiful job they did on making a cake for me. Fun fact: it even had sprinkles on the inside :) my kids are so awesome!
They were adamant that I needed the exact amount of candles. So we scrounged around in the leftover candles from previous birthdays - and wala!
It looked so pretty all lit up.
So I am so awkward when taking pictures, and it just me. When it is all of us on a fun vacation, I can do it - but just me? I am not a lime light kind of girl.. Now I totally know what my kids feel like, on a daily basis!
So experience the award with me - you can giggle it is ok.
the fake blow the candles out....
because what you can't see is two little people patiently waiting to help me blow out the candles, because let's face it I need all the help I can get.
I am super surprised that the smoke detectors didn't go off....
it was so delicious, and colorful....
The kids went to bed, Nate had to study for a test, and I ended up living on the while side (staying out till almost midnight - gosh I haven't done that in so long) and going to a ladies night out at our local art studio, with a new friend. It was a blast.
If you live in West Texas you should seriously go to Against The Grain Art Studio, it is so much fun, and super affordable!

Just like that another year is over, and I kind of like that my birthday is in the middle of the year, because it is like a new beginning in the middle of the chaos of the year.
I am blessed to have Nate and the kids, and together we can conquer anything and survive anything. They make life so much fun, a constant adventure.
I felt loved and celebrated - just what birthdays should be like.
It's a new birth year, and I am excited to see what this new one hold. More adventures, more learning, more loving, and more growing.
Thank you so much for all the emails, calls, text message, and facebook post!
Happy Wednesday!
