We spend our last few days doing the last of the activities we really wanted to do, while still enjoying family time.
Pali lookout.
Isn't the view just so beautiful? It was so windy, and it started raining a little, but it didn't ruin the view. Hawaii is probably one of the most beautiful places ever.
Botanical garden.
I haven't been to a botanical garden in years, and then I am use to the ones that you walk through and take a picnic basket. We did a quick drive through one, and it was so beautiful.
There really isn't a ton of land wildlife in Hawaii, besides for mongoose and wild pigs. We I really wanted to see a wild pig, and we were lucky! Nate had his safari eyes on (my mom would be proud) and he spotted a baby, and several others. It also turns out I might be a pig whisperer (I am not sure how I feel about that) - but the video is to come later!
Anyways how cute is the pig? I totally fell in love with this little guy.
And to no surprise Hayleigh just kept spotting flowers, and would add "mother (I am dead serious) would you take a picture of that flower." She makes me laugh so much, in between crying because she is so strong-willed!
Back to the point. The flowers were so pretty - us girls, we love flowers!
Lunch on the North Shore. This by far the best food we had, while eating out. North Shore Tacos - yum! We are totally going to recreate it!
Macadamia Nut Farm.
Besides for SeaLife Park, this was the kids other favourite. We loved Tropical Farms, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oahu.
While waiting for our little tour, the kids were able to crack their very own macadamia nuts, it was a huge hit. I had to take slow, deep breaths though, because handing a rock to my very clumsy kid, makes me nervous. But they loved it, and no one sustained any injuries.
We of course found some flowers (no surprise here) and chickens while waiting for our little tour.
So we did this tour, and that is what made this place worth it. I have no words to describe it, because it was hilarious, and I loved their super dry humor.
Meet our tour guide. His name is Chief.

I'm surprised Ian actually went near him! |
Anyways we went on this little ride where they showed us plants of Hawaii on all the different medical uses of it, he was also so hilarious!
So then he drops us off at his camp (called coconut village), and proceeds to show us how to make a fire a fire with rubbing wood together. It was really cool.
Well then he danced with his fire...
and my all time favourite - he showed us how to crack open a coconut, use the water, shred it, and make coconut milk - primitive style.

These wild chickens love the shredded coconut. |
We even got flower crowns, Hayleigh and I were ecstatic.
Then we did this really cool little boat ride on the fish pond. A ton of movies and TV shows have been shot here - Jurassic Park, First Dates, Tears of the Sun, Hawaii Five-0 - just to name a few.
The scenery was epic.
The gift shop was awesome - I wanted to buy everything food - jams, honey, vinegar, oils, nut butters, nuts, coffee, chocolate, etc.
We really loved our day here at the farm - the kids were so happy to be outside - they were exhausted afterwards.
We made a quick stop to see some turtles on the beach - my favourite - they are way cuter in the water though.
I just so love the scenery - everything is so beautiful, and I could drive along the shore all day long. I love the fresh salty sea air, the light breeze, the sunshine, and no rushing.
Happy weekend.
ps. Stay tuned for the our last weekend adventures.
