Aloha! Part 3 - Our First Weekend in Hawaii

Weekends were the kids favourite because their cousins were home from school, and that meant lots of playing and exploring together.

They all got along so well, and it was super fun to watch them interact, and hangout.

Since we left a few days after Mother's Day there was really no point in buying flowers etc.  Instead Nate got me a ticket to interact with the dolphins at SeaLife Park.

I have always wanted to do something like this, but we have never been in an environment where it would even be possible, so once I started to research for our trip and I saw this, I knew I wanted to do it.

It was pretty amazing, but I was disappointed in the fact that they made me go on the farthest spot so that Nate wouldn't be able to snap a few decent pictures, and that way I would be required to buy their prints - for an arm and a leg of course(I only bought one.)

Other then that it was pretty awesome, I do also wish that we would have booked the next program up where you actually get to interact even more in less of a group setting, but we didn't know what to expect, so we decided to rather play it safe.

Natasha, Rodger, and the kids went on to explore the rest of the park, while Nate and got ready (no jewelry, no hair clips, no nothing but a bathing suite) to head to Dolphin Lagoon.  It was hot on this day, I was looking forward to getting into the water.

So basically you get divided into two groups on both sides of those metal stairs.  As you can see it would have been awesome to be on the closest side, since that is where Nate was permitted to stand with the camera, but of course they place me on the other side, even after I asked for them to move me.

Needless to say it was still an amazing experience.

In the end, I was super thrilled because I have always wanted to kiss a dolphin.  It was the sweetest experience.

Honestly I didn't want to leave - at this exact moment I thought I would move here and work here forever.

We met up with the kids, and had the best day exploring the park, playing, laughing, and eating lunch of course.

One of Nate and my favorite things was the bird avairy.  I know, I know, how lame.  But it was seriously pretty cool.  Ian absolutely hated it, the idea of a bird sitting on him was just way to much, he was content to simply feed the ones on the ground.  Nate and I felt challenged though - to see who could attract the most birds - it was a tie.

Seriously thought, these little birds are the most adorable little things ever.

The dolphin show was a hit among the kids with oohs and aaaws.  It was also a nice break to sit down in the shade, out of the sun and heat.

Lunch with the cousins.

This sums these two up together perfectly.

Another favourite and neat experience was the touch and explore part of the park.  I really like this part, and so did the kids.  They got to feed little yellow fishies, touch sea stars, urchins, and sea cucumbers.  Oh, and the tunnel that leads into the tank was a hit.

I really love it when these kind of parks offers this to teach kids and adults for that matter.

The park is located in the most beautiful setting - mountains, trees, and ocean all right there.  Simply walking around is a beautiful and breathtaking experience.

The kids loved the dolphin in a tank show because they get splashed at the end of the show, and since it was super hot and stuffy, it was a welcomed relieved.  We went several times....

Everything else was pretty cool as well - I would highly recommend this for kids! It was by far my kids favourite.

We can wait till they move to Texas next year :)

A day is not complete when not seeing the ocean or spending time on the beach.

We went to one of the military beaches on base with the family.

Ian loved this one!

Bellows Beach.

It is beautiful just like every other beach in Hawaii.

The kids has a blast, playing until they were ready to fall over.

We had a super successful first weekend in Hawaii.

This island have also stolen our hearts, and it is on my top 5 favourite places in the world.

I would move tomorrow.

Happy Sunday!

ps.  there is more to come.... stay tuned.
