We were use to getting pictures with Santa in Germany at the community center on base - you pay your five bucks and you can snap away and take your own pictures - I miss that.
Last year I was introduced to the real American way - going to the mall. Well what I didn't realize or know was that you stand in line for hours on end, with hyper little people, who really couldn't care less. Also they take your money and a lot of it - they have no shame to charge you an arm and a leg.
This year we decided to just go to the mall in Lubbock since we were already there for our Polar Express trip. We planned it perfectly - we looked up all the information online, was at the mall fifteen minutes before ten, and we were first in line (standing in line for hours is for the birds) and we were in and out, my kind of outing. I don't like crowds and I don't like it when kids cry.
So here is our Santa picture for this year - we weren't allowed to snap some ourselves (that sucks) and it was totally overpriced but we couldn't not do it.
First Ian had to lean in just enough but not to close (but just close enough to look completely akward), and Hayleigh well she did her normal nervous giggle and kept her distance. At least this year I didn't have to coax here - they walked up right up to him to shake his hand
We adjusted them to look a little less awkward - but they still look a little nervous - I don't blame them.
I am pretty sure my kids are going to hate me in the next few years because I did this to them, but I can't resist it - it is so much fun.
Happy Christmas time!
