RECIPE: CINNAMON ORNAMENTS
These super easy homemade cinnamon ornaments looks really great on any Christmas tree and will instantly fill your home with the smell of Christmas.
makes 20- 30 ornaments (depending on their size)
1 cup applesauce
1 - 1 1/4 cup cinnamon
1 tbsp ground cloves
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
2. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. (I use a stone to bake on so there is no need to line anything)
3. Combine the applesauce, cinnamon, and cloves in the bowl of stand mixer. It will take a few minutes for the dough mixture to come together, you can of course also use your hands it will just take a little bit longer. You want the dough to form a ball without being to sticky, add cinnamon or applesauce as needed.
4. Sprinkle your working station with cinnamon - I used a little cornstarch as well. (the same way you would use flour when making a pie crust, or pizza dough)
5. Using a rolling pin to roll the dough to 1/4 inch thick, sprinkle with cinnamon as needed to prevent sticking.
6. Cut out the desired shapes and place on the prepared sheet pan, make sure they are not touching each other.
7. Using a toothpick or a skewer poke a little hole into each one of the ornaments, this will be to attach the string.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until rock hard. Alternatively you also dry your ornaments at room temperature for several days.
6. Loop a decorative string (I use bakers twine) through the ornament and hang on the tree.
*** These ornaments aren't super fragile but they can break so handle with care.
*** Do not eat.
Happy ornament making!
