Merry Christmas: Our Christmas Day {video at the bottom}

It is still Christmas for another couple of hours.  And just like it snuck up on us, it passed so very quickly.

The house is somewhat tidied up, all the magic and anticipation boxed up for next year -  overstimulated, over-tired children are tucked in, still in awe of the beauty of the day.  The kitchen is cleaned up, sticky floors are mopped, rogue pieces of ribbon is discarded, and it's peaceful, I am sifting through the pictures, savoring our fabulous day.

We had a slow, lazy and wonderful little Christmas at home, the four of us snug in the warm and cozy living room, not getting out of our Christmas jammies, and embracing the Christmas mess in the living room.

We are quiet content to be home by ourselves on Christmas - I am never a go go go person, so that doesn't change on holidays.

We have Christmas early or later with Nate's family in town, that way Christmas day is all ours to do however we please.  It has taken a while to find what works, and we are slowly relearning to do what is best for our family.

The kids had a great day, and they were so grateful and thankful for all their gifts, apparently is everything they ever wanted - so win for Nate and I.

Ian is still into Lego more then before (that is all this kid all day long) and love seeing him follow the instructions, requiring no help and creating things,  He is really good at building his own made up space ships - it really impressive.

Hayleigh's mothering side is emerging more and more - and it makes my heart so happy.  It is teaching her and training her to have tender heart and  nurture others.  She loves playing baby, and house, and painting her nails, all while pretending to be a princess.  Her imagination is wild, and blesses me on a daily basis.

We woke up at a decent time, none of this five in the morning stuff anymore, turned on the light in the living room and instant unwrapping begun.

Millie joined us for the excitement (I love this cat) and coffee and tea where enjoyed while the kids squealed and giggled in delight.

Breakfast was served later then usual, but everyone was happy with that - I guess the excitement in the moment stilled the hunger pains.

Checking on breakfast together.

Breakfast got two thumbs up from Ian.

 Emptying the stockings came next.

The rest of our day pretty much looked like this - playing, playing, and more playing.

Nate played with his Gin kit.  Yes, I know the heathen :)

We took a break from playing to cook Christmas lunch, and cooking with my man is not complete these days without a glass of wine.  Chopping and sipping is how it needs to be done.

and then we napped....

We had such a great day together, and everyday I am more and more thankful for Nate and the kids and the sweet bond that we all share - one that was tested this year by lots of different circumstances and situation - but we made.

This Christmas we made some memories worthy to be stored in the mental bank.

Little family Christmases is the best.

A little video to enjoy!

Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
