Welcoming Fall

This is my favourite time of the year, you can feel the seasons change, it has been getting cooler, the leaves are all starting to turn colors, and everything seems to be slowing down, at least for our family.  This changes invites in fall flavors, like soups, and apple dishes.

We decided to go apple picking the other day, and it was a blast.

Our family - we are strange like that, we love harvesting food, and then coming home and creating flavorful and delicious meals, snacks, and or treats with it.

I discovered this little apple orchard way in the middle of nowhere - thanks to the local homeschool group.

It was completely worth the drive for a few hours in the sun, learning, laughing and playing.

The owners where super nice, talkative, and eager to answer any and all questions.  I love that part of small farms.

We went on our own, not part of a group, and we were still able to roam the orchard and search for the perfect apples.

They have these awesome buckets on wheels you get to drag around and fill up.  Ian thought it was the coolest, Hayleigh wanted to stick to the classic basket she brought all the way from home.

It was just such a fun little outing.  We needed this little outing away to spend some time together as a family.  Sunshine and lots of laughter is good for our souls.

Also my sweet little Hayleigh had to just try out these apples.  It never fails - this girl loves her fruit!

I mean who could blame her? These apples were beautiful and such a bright red color.

We picked a ton of apples - stay tuned for apple recipes.

The kids were so proud of their hard work.

They have this awesome little store at the orchard where you can buy pretty much everything apples - from apple cider, to applesauce, to apple butter, to dried apple rings - it is pretty cool.

We are so excited for this season shift, and are looking forward to many more fall adventures, and family changes.

Happy Fall!!
