Our Christmas

It's the morning after Christmas, and I have seen the kids for a total of maybe five minutes, they have been playing with their new toys all  morning, content, and peacefully (well for the most part.)

The house has been tidied, a Christmas movie is playing in the background, a load of laundry is washing, the Christmas lights are shining bright, and I am sipping on some tea, thinking about yesterday, and the beauty of it all.

I love Christmas, and it always goes by so fast, we spend so much time preparing everything, and before we know it, it has come and pass all in a blink of an eye.  I can't believe that we have to wait a whole year again.  I am excited to be in our own house next Christmas!

Our Christmas day was different from the last seven years, we were actually with family, and it wasn't just us, it proved to be a pretty neat experience, and though everything was exactly how we did it before, it was beautiful, and fun, and special, and memorable.

The kids actually slept in a little (anything is better then 05:00am) and as soon as they were up they ran to the living room to see if they had a surprise, and all I can say how cute.  Ian's word "wow, guys hurry, come quick, come look, we have gifts,) how sweet is that.  I am pretty sure Christmas with kids is one of the most exciting things in the world.  Their innocence, excitement, and joy is contagious and something special.

We opened our gifts, we had a delicious breakfast (a night before casserole is probably one of the most awesome inventions ever,) we watched movies, played with toys, skyped with family in South Africa, took naps, played board games, made candy, had a delicious Christmas dinner, and ate way to much.  But it was perfect.

The kids knew exactly what to when it came to opening gifts, and I am pretty sure that it took them all but 30 seconds to have everything open, and to start playing.  Their faces, oh my, you had to be here to see the cuteness.

Our gift selection was a huge success, and I am happy to say they love it all.

What a joy to be with family, and experience another side of Christmas.

My heart is full and happy, I am so grateful for a beautiful day!

The following set of pictures are some of my favourites!  Hayleigh loves the movie Frozen, not so much for the princesses, but she is in love with the snowman.  In fact she has a radar going and can spot Olaf in a crowd.

I really wanted to to get her a stuffed Olaf, and after weeks of searching I gave up, everyone was out of stock, and I could hardly find one online.  One day I went grocery shopping with the kids, and lone and behold a giant Olaf, I could not resist.  I managed to get it with both kids in my shopping cart, and they had no idea (thank you awesome cashier for helping me out,) I am so happy I got it.

Look at the sweetness! It is heart warming.

I am so happy to have these little people in my life, it would be really boring and dull without them.  I am grateful for their good health, and the fact that we were able to have Christmas in the comfort of a house.

Christmas snuggles, along with a hot cup of tea, while watching a movie, or little people play is so soothing in it's own unique way.

On a side note - we should be closing on our house on 20 January 2015, for anyone wondering what is going on.  We are so excited and I can't wait to have all our belongings - I want my sewing machine and craft stuff!

Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
