Rain, Wants, And Two Toddlers

It rained today, well who am I kidding? It has been raining all week, well it has been raining since the kids and I stepped foot in South Africa.  Well, hello Germany weather thank you for following us to this side of the world.

I wish I could say it is the good kind of rain, the kind that comes with beautiful gray skies in the afternoon, and then you have a steady down pour that begs you to stop and sit in the dim light provided.  Instead I am losing my mind every time I hear a rain drop against the window, while listening to a three and one year old begging me to go outside.

The rain has to stop and the sun needs to come out, not for three minute tease sessions, that is just mean and giving false hope to my kids is frustrating, how do I explain the fact that mother nature is simply upset with us to a three year old?

We have been keeping busy this week, inside of course, visiting with friends, and catching up.  It has been refreshing meeting with some people and seeing some different faces during the day. thank the Lord for adult interaction in the mornings, I have to say that I have been losing my mind a little bit - it is called cabin fever!

I met with a friend I have known since the 3rd grade this week, and we got to meet her sweet little girl Leah.  Hayleigh and Leah are four months apart, and it was so need to see them together.  Hayleigh is grateful for a sweet treat from her new friend.

We were teased for a few brief minutes one afternoon when the skies cleared up to a beautiful light blue and the sun rays kissed our cheeks, and the soaked it all in and just like that our excitement with warm sunshine weather was ripped away, and I had to listen to my babies whine "I want, I want to be outside," "I want, I want sunshine," and I won't lie, my heart ached a little, well actually it ached a lot.  I managed to get a couple of pictures.

As for the rest of the week, we tried to change our attitude and embrace the rain days.  So enjoying the rainy days is what we did.

#1 Building puzzles, and coloring pictures.

#2 Playing dress up with silly glasses.  May I say that I have been laughing so much!

Trying so hard not to giggle! hahaha

#3 Puzzles and cuddles with ouma before bed.  Oh my heart is happy!!!

#4 Fun muffins for breakfast. Bonus, the shapes made everyone happy!! You can find the recipe here.

#5 Sweet mornings with a great friend.  Laughing, hanging out and being real!! I am so happy to have such a sweet friend in South Africa! Hayleigh agrees!

It is weekend, and with that we are hoping and wishing for more sun and less rain.  We are hoping and wishing for beautiful memories with oupa and ouma, and cherishing our time together, before we know it we will be at the airport teary eyed and sad on our way home.

Happy Friday!
