And just like that our weekend is over, it goes by way to fast. Luckily for us my dad is now on leave, and he will be on leave until we fly back. My mom starts leave on Friday, Nate arrives on Friday and then we are off to the beach house.
Ian makes sure to remind me every day that "once daddy comes, we go to the ocean, and then we have Easter at the ocean," I am pretty sure everyone is more then ready for Nate to join us.
We had a fabulous weekend, nothing crazy though, we just went with the flow, enjoying each other's company and spending time together.
I was very happy to go to one of my favourite craft markets [we were suppose to go the first weekend we were here, but it rained out] so Saturday delivered! It was a beautiful day, the kids behaved all the way in the stroller, I got to browse and dream [I wasn't able to buy much since I have to cart everything back to Germany} but I did get some ideas.
Sadly people get upset when you take pictures of their things so I have no pictures to show besides for this one lady!! I always buy something form her, I just love all the colors. She is from Zimbabwe and the actual artist of all these tin/metal dishes, trays, candle holders, cups, bowls, and teapots. Every piece is unique and hand painted!! How can I not buy it? She gave me permission to take her picture.
Our finds for the includes a little bowl from here for a sweet friend, two wooden cars, a couple of knitted finger puppets, some candied roasted nuts, and a bug box.
Who would have thought that Ian will grow to love bugs, and that he would go out of his way to go bug hunting with ouma. Brother sure has come a long way from when we first arrived here in South Africa, The kids had a blast the rest of the weekend, searching oupa and ouma's fabulous garden for critters to put in the bug box. Some finds were a bee, a cockroach, ants, and a couple of termites. Ian thought he was so cool, and he could not wait to show his finds to his godparents, when they joined us for lunch.
We had a very lazy Sunday afternoon with Louis and Charlotte. The kids were hooked once again, they had so much fun with them playing soccer, finding more bugs, making chalk creations on the bricks, and walking around finding different textures in the garden. I love love love watching my kids with these two and I am so thankful for beautiful and lasting friendships, even when we are oceans apart.
As usual the afternoon delivered. We had lots of laughter, stories and fun conversation, never a dull moment. I always learn something new, and I will just say this Charlotte always makes me laugh and yesterday was no expectation. I will admit that I cried I laughed so hard, I could not keep it together.
No Sunday afternoon is complete without my moms famous and delicious milkshake and this Sunday we had had some "koeksister's" a South African specialty, and one of my favourites.
A short post of our weekend. We are all trying to wait every patiently for Friday to arrive.
Happy Monday!

ReplyDeleteWill you be going to Cape Town while in South Africa? Enjoy the beach house!
ReplyDeleteHi Anneri, we usually go to Cape Town, since my brother and his wife lives there, but we all decided to meet up at the family beach house this time, to spend less time traveling and more time together. I think once Hayleigh is a little older we will go to Cape Town [Ian and I went back in 2011]. Do you live in Cape Town?
DeleteHi Chantal,
