Our Valentines Day

I have never been a big fan of Valentines day.  It is such a giant money making and let's indulge in everything kind of day, but then insert Mrs Sherri.

Mrs Sherri is an amazing woman of God, and I love her so much.  I will forever cherish the times I had with her in Germany, and all the inspiration I got for her, and am still getting from her.  Well see saw Valentines day as a day of fun, their family will get all dressed up for dinner and she would make something fun and amazing in a heart shapes.  I thought well that sounds fun, to just make it a fun day for the kids, instead of all the empty promises the world tags onto this day.

So in honor of Mrs Sherri, I did just that this year.  My kids are still a little dinner for a fancy dinner, and sitting a table to eat is not on the list of priorities for them, so instead, we baked cookies, made heart shaped pancakes, heart shaped lunch sandwiches, and heart shaped grilled cheese for dinner.  It is save to say we ate almost everything heart shaped.

In case you are gasping at the horror of grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner on Valentines day, Nate was on shift at the fire station, and I was not going to cook an elaborate dinner for myself. While grilled cheese sandwiches is a favourite in our house, and also acceptable for a dinner choice, add some yogurt and fresh fruit and or veggies, and you have a winner.

Our Valentines day:

Baking cookies. {We did this with Nate the day before.}

Making heart shaped pancakes for breakfast

Taking some fun pictures for the grand parents.

Eating the cookies we made.

Flowers from Nate.  Well it is more of a little plant.  But who cares, it has flowers and I love it.

Coloring pictures and reading a bazillion books.

As I sat on the couch at the end of the day snuggling two tired little bodies, by heart was filled with so much love for them, I couldn't and still can't contain the pure joy they add to my life.  I hope that my kids will know that they are loved in this world, and that they mean more to mean then anything I could possibility obtain.  I would never trade motherhood for anything.  So our Valetines day revolved around the kids, and making memories with them.

Happy Valentines day!
With love
